I visited with my family for a last-minute swim and brought several kids along. While I was at the front desk asking about rates—with my card already in hand—two of my nephews urgently needed to use the restroom. The older woman at the counter immediately said, “They can’t go in there if you’re not paying.”
I politely explained that I was paying and was just asking for rate information. She repeated, again, “They can’t go in there if you’re not paying,” even as I stood there ready to make a transaction. I explained we had five kids and asked how much it would be for my 3-year-old. Her response was a curt, “He has to be paid.” I said that was fine.
I also inquired whether adults who weren’t swimming had different pricing. She simply said, “You can’t go in there if you’re not paying.” At this point, I just said OK and proceeded. For reference, we had 5 adults and 5 kids—all ready to swim.
The younger staff members were polite and helpful, and the lifeguards were great. Unfortunately, the older woman’s tone and attitude were condescending and unnecessarily hostile. Nowhere in the conversation did I say or suggest that we were not going to pay. We are an Asian family, and while I can’t say for sure, the way we were treated felt discriminatory and unwelcoming. The other staff seemed almost embarrassed by her behavior.
The facility itself was decent—clean but not outstanding for the price. Overall, the experience was soured by one staff member who treated us poorly for no clear reason. I hope this feedback helps improve customer service...
Read moreI had not been to the pool in several years so i thought we would try It today. I had my elderly mother with me who also happens to be handicapped. We were disappointed to see there was NO senior rate, when many other local pools offer one. $14 Is a lot to pay in order to just sit in the lawn chair and watch her grandchild. My other issue is the concession situation. We were told not to bring in food , ok, fair enough. Well when we went to the concession stand for a snack they were SOLD OUT of everything. The teenage employee told me they would not have many items for another week or so. How can you tell people not to bring in food but not offer sufficient items to eat, especially during these busy, hot summer days. We had to leave because my kids were hungry and they needed more than an ice cream bar, in which they only had 1 kind left.
I'll just stick to Antioch from now on, it's half the price and they allow us to...
Read moreDisappointment is the word accurately describing my experience. Today june 8, a beautiful day, the pool was open only for a couple of hours. I went there a little after 2:00pm and I was told that the pool is closed. On my question why, the explanation was that the manager Kim closed the pool because of the storm. Then I asked where is the storm? There was no lighting, thunder or wind for that matter. The simple explanation was that Kim closed the pool. The good part is that Libertyville swimming pool is just 15 minutes away, the bad part is that I pay $100 for membership in Grayslake and I can shovel my card in my rear. Kim should not forget that the swimming pool belongs to the public and we also pay her salary not for taking rainy days. The rain was for 20 minutes the whole day. The rest of it was partially cloudy. All other swimming pools were open (Libertyville, Lake Bluff)....
