My newly wed wife and I went into BNR Video Games & Collectibles LLC games yesterday afternoon for the first time (and unfortunately last time since we don't live even remotely close to Greeley), and what we experienced was a great time. We're very interested in both video games (retro and new), and boardgames. To our surprise, we found a boardgame that we've been looking everywhere for! Which was just really freaking cool to run into. I wish our retro game store sold boardgames and cards too. We left with a boardgame and two video games for the original Xbox and the Nintendo GameCube, both titles being that of Yu-Gi-Oh!. The staff were friendly and also helpful, asking us if we were on the prowl for anything specific and to ask them any questions whenever if there's anything we're looking for. My only complaint would probably be the pricing of their items; but then again, I don't actually know what a good price or a bad price is for most of their inventory, and money does keep the doors open. So, we were cool with what we paid and left with, I just imagine that may be a negative for other consumers. This lovely place has a massive selection of just about anything you're looking for. New video games, retro video games, video game consoles, gaming gear, comic books, graded and sealed cards, boardgames and even figurines! I'd come back if it wasnt for the wife and I living in the middle of Wyoming. I also heard that this place will help you look online for anything that they don't have in-store and order it for you off of the world wide web themselves! Which is just a huge plus to me if that's actually true. The lovely wife and I highly recommended at the very least peaking your head in and looking around this fine establishment. Five out of five stars for us. A must visit in Greeley Colorado. You're bound to find something that'll catch your eye.
EDIT - We also love small local businesses over drone-like large international corporations like GameStop. So that's a super massive...
Read moreAs a preface to my review I would like to state that I have a negative bias in my review due to poor treatment from staff nearly every time I've gone, both before they moved to their current location and now. As a result my review is going to skew more negative subjectively than it is objectively.
While they are fantastic for games, and they do have a fantastic console selection generally as well, I can't really recommend them for any sort of trade in situation. Their consoles are a little more expensive than what the average is, but you do get a little bit of a warranty as a result, so whether or not that trade off is worth it is up to you. Both of the consoles I have gotten from them have been in worse (3ds) condition than or equal (N64) condition to lower cost equivalents I found on used marketplaces, and neither of them have broken through my use, so for me the additional cost wasn't really worth it. As far as trade-ins, I wouldn't even bother. I was offered $15 for a console I brought for trade in, and they generally sell that console for about $120 (The last one I saw there in similar condition to mine was 130), meaning that for that particular console in perfect operating condition they sell it for 700% more than they offer as trade in, which is a much larger trade-in to resale markup than I have seen at other game stores. There were also some games there that I noticed have significantly higher prices than the last time I was there, and it wouldn't surprise me if they were still taking lower trade in amounts for those as well, though I can't fully confirm that. If you are going in to purchase games or you are going in to purchase a console (and you understand that you are going to be paying more than what you could get on the general used market for a console in the same condition but also get a bit of a warranty as a trade off), the place is great. Just, maybe don't expect a warm...
