I had a very bad experience at the hope house, I don’t suggest any women with children stay there as it is not safe they will let ANYONE stay in the hope house (Violent offenders, Sexual offenders, and addicts ) being there for the short time I was I witnessed residents not following rules and staff doing nothing about it things such as getting drunk on the property or smoking weed in the rooms which should be 0 tolerance just while I was staying there a man held a staff up at knifepoint while under the influence and another man was taking advantage of the system created to help and was getting drunk in the kitchen while there were children present , they will let anyone stay here they dont check people out before letting them in the doors I’ve had current residents tell me things they have done and gotten away with people getting threatened and staff do nothing about it you could get your things stolen and it wouldn’t be there problem if you have other options before checking out this place I highly recommend it is rather sleep in a tent than live in a...

At the age of 19, in 2010, I became homeless. I had aged out of the foster home without really being prepared for the world. I could myself in need of a place to lay my head at night so I got into the shelter part of the hope house. I believed it was going good. I followed the rules to a T and was searching for a job when my health took a drastic turn and my vision was at stake. To prevent further damage to my eyes from the condition I had, I had to have emergency brain surgery to help followed by a night in the hospital for observation.... I have never had someone be so rude to me when I called to get information about what services they offer to people at all. I was asked where I was from I told them originally Washington state at which point I was cut off and told that they were unable to help me I finished my sentence of I've been a resident of Hancock County since September at which point the person on the phone got attitude with me to tell me that it did not matter because they only offer services for long term residents I believe is what he was saying honestly I'm not sure I was very offended with how rude they were being and hung...
