Donāt EVER buy meat or fish at this market, every time I bought I ended threw it away, and they arenāt cheap, they sold old meats and fishes that just has been sitting there forever, no expiration date, and when the meat are old they cut them off and put them where the frozen area, either way , if you buy from the counter the meats also are very old, unless you are lucky that you are there the day that they have newer meat, chance is very low, even if they have new meats, they won't sell it to you, they will keep in the back and try to sell all the old meats and fishes first when other meats and fishes are almost to the smelly and rotten point then they will move them to the frozen area , and then replace with the newer meats which are probably already a few days old. Also watch out for expiration date on all other products, they are selling many expired products. I Just bought 3 lbs of pork belly today and when i open it up it smelled so stinky, it rotten meat, like every time, the only reason why i kept taking a chance on buying meats and fishes here because the pork belly has skin on and some of the fish they have that american groceries store doesn't have, but wasting money on things that ending up in the trash anyway. Also the vegetables, they often put old vegetables underneath and put a few fresh on on the top and when you look at it you thought that itās fresh but when you go home and open it up you will find a surprise, itās just terrible place. They will never change , as long that I remember since they opened from day one. And the place is always so freezing cold, they never had heat there, and itās always so filthy and smelly, the smell of old mold and old rotten meats and rotten fishes. And the short chubby Mexican guy claimed himself the manager is so rude, he yelled at me , just tried to showed off that he...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI haven't been here in a while because it was pretty gross the last time I went. But it really is a convenient location, so I came to pick up a shelf item. I was pleasantly surprised that they had made some improvements to their refrigerator/freezer sections!
First, the freezers on the last row were closed off and no longer accessible (thank goodness! mold growing inside freezers is just wrong).
Most of their refrigerator section in the back corner was replaced with fridges with doors, so it looks more hygienic. And I did not see any freezers or fridges with cracks.
On a Saturday visit, I would have expected a more fresh selection of produce. They weren't as good as I'd expect from most stores, but since I had like 0 expectation at this store (per my previous visits), I was pleasantly surprised at the produce quality. So much so that I actually picked up two items from them.
Since their opening, I've seen this place's ups and downs. originally they even had food vendors on the side. it's too bad they're all gone now. I have only seen more and more deterioration since those vendors left, until this past week. It was great seeing a change for the better. I hope this is a sign that the store will continue to get better and there will be a better turn around on their products so things will be even fresher. There is so much potential here for the sheer size of the location. I look...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is an honest and accurate review from someone who has shopped here for the last 13 years. Iāve never written a Google review before, but as I finally end my time shopping at this store, I felt compelled to write one.
Almost everything is expired or close to expiring. Even when you spot a ānewā item on the shelfāsomething you didnāt see the week beforeā itās already on the verge of expiring. It makes me suspect they buy clearance stock at low prices from elsewhere thatās about to go bad.
Rotten vegetables? No refund, no exchangeāeven if you bring them back the same day.
They donāt even provide plastic bags. They throw your groceries into dirty cardboard boxes. Asked for a plastic bagāwas told they donāt have any. I couldnāt believe it, something in me snapped at that moment.
The store is filthy and smells bad. (anyone whoās been here knows it)
As an Asian myself, Iām embarrassed this place represents our community. I tolerated it for years out of necessity, but a few months ago I finally stopped. Now I drive to Chicago once a month for groceries, and Iāve tried the new Pan Asia twice and have been...
