JJ Fish & Chicken — Restaurant in Milwaukee

I want to start off by saying, I'm a chef. I am uh, food service director. So this is my life. I've been cooking for over 35.to 37 years banquets corporate lunch dinner, bar mitzvas. Weddings. Fine dining. Catering cook for prisons, group homes. So I know a little bit about something when it comes to culinary. I've been working a lot hours. I did not feel like cooking today because I was just too tired so I figure out. Allow somebody to cook for me. Today. I think I deserve that working as hard as I have I'm going to trust jj's to feed me. And my family Jj post to b, specity, fish and chicken. So I ordered shrimp in perch. And when I got home, I was highly disappointed, I mean highly disappointed. I spent over a 100 some dollars. And what I got was not What I expected from j and j's My shrimp was cooked to the point that it was hollow inside that you can take 2 fingers, and it could just crumble in pieces. I would never go there again on south 27. I'm not gonna even talk about the spaghetti. I am gonna leave that out. Cause if I talk about the spaghetti. This is what you're gonna get🤮🤮🤮 now I'm gonna understand why the cook. Was it looking at me staring at me? Because he knew what he was doing. It doesn't take long to cook shrimp. It doesn't take long to cook perch if you don't what temperature to cook fish in shrimp? Let me help you 145. Internal temperature, you cook it more than that. You might as well not even sell it to anybody. I'm highly disappointed. The owner need to do it in service on how to cook shrimp and fish. Everybody can't cook just because they say they can JJ, south, 27, you're horrible. You should not even be open. I could have did a 1000 times better at home. Wow Wow Wow!!!!! Such an amazing experience at this JJ’s location who is ran by Riff and his family!!

Talk about cleanliness, the flavor, the excitement, and the environment.

I was headed home after a long day at work and nobody had cooked at home, so I pulled in and walked in greeted as if I owned the place and made a plethora of orders to try everything out!

So I was waiting for my food and I started talking to Riff and we had a lot of similarities and the smell just made me hungrier and hungrier!! Eventually they gave me my food and I never ordered fried okra well they gave it to me for free as an appreciation for eating there and letting them serve me and my family!!

Overall the Shrimp, Chicken, and Catfish are all fresh and out of this world seasoning!! Like bless the chef I’ve ate at multiple JJ’s locations and this is by very the best!!

False advertising. I’m so bummed out bc the reviews seemed so good.

The catfish nuggets are advertised on the menu as 1 pound like most places. One pound = 453 g. Mine came out to 196.6 grams (see photo/video). Oil, flour, cornmeal all have weight and even with that weight included this came out to LESS than half a pound. Thats pretty bad. I noticed it as soon as I grabbed the bag that it felt very light.

They probably don’t think any of their stereotypical clientele would challenge this or review it themselves.

Overall the nuggets had a good taste to them otherwise. Nothing spectacular but still good. They actually tasted more like real catfish than the Swai fish that is sold as regular catfish fillet at most JJs.

But none of this was worth it and I won’t return. The staff was friendly enough though.
