I feel bad for writing this because I’ve never written them a good review when my food was good, but yet, I’m writing one now because my food made me feel sick. I’m currently in the bed with a really bad stomachache. I ordered the crispy squid and pho special (I think it was the pho special—It’s the first one listed on the menu) anyway, I think it was the squid that actually made me feel nauseous while in the midst of eating them.( I try to go around to different restaurants to try to find good fried calamari—so far Kyoto has the best fried calamari, it’s just greasy). I’ve never had the type of batter that this place uses and to be honest, I don’t want to try it again. The squid was fried in like a doughnut batter. It was so thick. You could hardly taste the squid from the thick doughy batter. I was first amazed by how big the pieces were until I noticed that I had been chewing for a while and no squid. I ended up taking the batter off to see if it made it better, but it still wasn’t all that great. Paid like $14 for it just to end up in the trash. I’m then like well my stomach hurts, but maybe the pho (broth) will make me feel better? Wrong! I felt even worse. I took maybe 3-4 bites and felt like I was going to vomit. I ended up setting my pho in the kitchen, knowing I should throw it out, but couldn’t build myself up to throw a $17.55 uneaten meal away. It’s just sitting there until my stomach feels better and I can actually throw it away.
I saw others say something about menu prices, so I thought I’d just confirm. The menu said the pho would be $15.50, but the man charged me 17 something because the price on the menu is for a regular and they only sell size large for takeout. I feel like that should be written on the menu or something. Cuz like you could possibly charge me extra and pocket the rest!
All in all, I’m hoping that you have a better experience...
Read moreThis has been one of the most solid pho places in Milwaukee... But a few things is bugging me since my last visit. Pho prices went up from $9.50 to $14.50 since covid19. They're skimping out on meat on the pho. Broth is not as meaty, but sweeter and soy-saucy (everything else is forgivable...)
They have, in the past, been less consistent. So I'm hoping they'll spring back.

Since my first experience here, I've been back quite a bit, especially since my favorite pho place closed down. Since the first bad experience, though, the food has been a solid 4 every time. I like that i can always count in this place being above average, if not quite the 5-star quality I've had elsewhere.
Pho is never sweet, but flavorful, with just the right amount of meat and tripe. Rice and bbq dishes are always pretty good (so says hubby-i never get them myself. Spring roll is again a solid good, but not best. Two shrimps instead of the three I'm used to seeing. Banh mi- meh. Salty rather than flavorful. Xankia has it better. Iced coffee with condensed milk- very strong. And very sweet. I always need to add some water to mine.
Oh and the servers here are always nice and efficient. They ow how ti take care of you even when the place is packed full. Not always the nicest of servers, but...
Read moreLove their pho so much and have yet to find a better pho place but our past two experiences were extremely gross. As you can see we ordered plenty of food here this day! My fried rice had pieces of guy hair, most of our waters had floaties inside and the cups were still dirty, and all the spoons looked like they were washed in a hurry. We couldn’t finish our food because we ended up getting grossed out so we got our tabs and they didn’t tell us 15% tip was already included in each of our two item tabs. Not even a whole group on one check, which would be understandable. When I paid with card, got my receipt that says how much tip I desire to leave, I asked the lady working at cashier if the tip was already included, to make sure of the amount of tip I was going to leave and kid you not, she said it wasn’t! Good thing my cousin next to me still had her check (not paid yet) and it showed her tip was included in her check, meaning that mine was too. I then approached the lady once again and explained that she had lied to me and said it wasn’t. She then proceeded to give me my receipt back to change the tip amount. Will not be going back since every experience we’ve had here was bad. Saddened because their pho is...
