Yesterday I bought a shawl in Greensboro, NC, Anthropologie. Not cheap. Watched cashier firmly touch lining as if she was looking for goods I might I have stashed inside. It was my second visit to an Anthropologie in 72 hours. Had only been to one in another state. Total spent: just under $300. Not a lot of money. Not a little either. Irony: on the table near the cashier was a copy of Amanda Gorman's inaugural poems. It's so sad. The performative nature of being "woke." We rush to look like we care about "others" via brown and black faces (even plus size faces of any shade) in catalogs. Then we put the likes of this cashier (and others. Let's not start with a manager in the Anthropologie in Birmingham, Alabama, a few years back) behind the counter. What is the point? "When day comes we ask ourselves, where can we find light in this never-ending shade? The loss we carry, a sea we must wade. We've braved the belly of the beast..."- A. Gorman PS I have given up on complaining to higher ups When I complained about Birmingham AL, the headquarters for this brand in NC sent me to manager in Birmingham, MI. I think I am finally tired of this company. Race is not the issue. It's just total cluelessness. I said goodbye to another brand years ago and watched it go under a few years back. Perhaps the same will be true of Anthro. As Solange says, "Baby I know you're...
Read moreI am done with Anthropologie! The app sold me a second hand item from Nuuly without making it obvious in the fine print that I was not buying from Anthropologie. My receipt says Anthropologie. When I took it to the store to return it because it does not fit, they refused to return because corporate says it is from Nuuly not Anthropologie. I have worked in corporate retail. I know the manager at stores has ways to refund items. The manager at this store made the poor, kind sales associate tell me they could do nothing and offered me 40% a full price item. She did all while watching the conversation from afar. Let's talk about how gross it is that Anthropologie makes the find print around Nuuly items so small their clients have no idea they are not buying directly from the company. Next lets talk about how poorly trained this manager is, that she didn't even deal with the conversation herself but sent the sweet sales associate over to deal with it and then like a coward, witnessed the conversation and didn't even apologize on behalf of the company. I have shopped here for over 20 years, spent thousands of dollars. I am done, so done. I will never shop at the company...
Read moreAlways courteous employees who try and help. The shop was nice and clean, as it normally is. I found 2 shirts that I really liked and got them in a medium, but thought maybe a small might fit better. Only one person ahead of me at check out. All the signs, splash boards, etc. were up. I was immediately taken at the cash register. As always, she asked me for my credentials and my name comes up in the computer. I had a couple of gift cards for the purchases, but went a bit over and had to use my debit card. The set up was easy for me to use the card. No problems. Loved my purchase and went home. Tried in both tops at home and I should have gotten a small in both tops. Called Anthropologie to see if I could get an even trade to exchange my mediums for smalls. The lady asked for the item number to make sure she had the correct tops. She got both tops in small and put them together up front for me or my husband to go get them and exchange them. Husband went today and got the 2 small tops and gave them the 2 mediums. Love Anthropologie. They always have the perfect clothes. They are always comfortable. Love...
