I purchased a couch and two chairs about 3 years ago from Ivan Smith Furniture. During the sale, the business convinced me to purchase a Furniture Protection Plan for $199.00. They assured me that the plan would cover any accidental rips, stains, cuts, punctures, tears, etc…. My couch’s back cushion zipper ripped open, and now the foam filling is bulging out. The couch is rarely even sat on, and in good condition, except for the busted zipper. I contacted the furniture protection personnel and after telling them about my damaged couch and complied with everything they told me to do for them to replace or repair my couch, they just continuously put me off by saying the claim was being reviewed. This went on over a month with me calling them over 4 times to see if they were going to stand by their policy. I continued to get put off and they never, not one time, contacted me to provide any answers. I even contacted the store manager that I purchased my furniture from, and after being told she would try and help me out, she never followed up or contacted me either. Ultimately, the store did not stand by their policy, nor did they respond or communicate with me to address this problem. Needless to say, I’m done with doing any future business with Ivan Smith Furniture Stores!
Problem RESOLVED! Since writing the message above, I am pleased to say that my issue has been resolved! Ivan Smith has scheduled someone to come to my house next week to replace my cushion on my couch. I’m still disappointed with the personnel that I dealt with at the Furniture Protection Plan location, but am pleased with the management from the local store for addressing and resolving this problem. Thank You!
FOLLOW UP ON REPAIR WORK ON MY COUCH…I want to express just how pleased I was with the young man, “Mark” that was sent to my house to repair my flawed cushion on my couch. He was one of the most respectful, polite, hard working, productive, particular, service men that I have ever witnessed! I purchased a 8 foot table, 8 chairs, 2 bedrooms full of furniture and mattresses. The repairman had to come out multiple times when the furniture was under warranty to repair the table and chairs that had the tip of the screws that would poke you when you would sit down. 🤦♂️ The $1800 table and chairs have been lightly used. No pets and we are very careful and easy on our furniture. They even had to dismantle my table to take it into the shop to strip it down and refinish it since the finish was coming off. And now that it's out of warranty it's peeling again. I will never darken their door again. I called the store and spoke to Joy the store manager. She needs to get trained in customer service and service after the sale. I didn't ask them for Anything other than a recommendation of who could repair my chairs. The first thing out of her mouth was "sir you have had this furniture for 10 years, there is nothing we can do for you, it would be cheaper for you to just come in and buy another dining set". It went downhill from there.. WOW!! What a first impression Joy!! You should be fired!! Total FAIL!!!! Terrible!!

4/1/22 Ivan Smith customer service is absolutely the best. Chad, at the Greenville location, helped me with purchasing our king sized mattress and recently a desk for our home office. Their prices are competitive and quality always on point. I can see, touch and measure an actual piece of furniture before purchasing. No waiting months for back order and delivery. Shopping locally with Ivan Smith is the only option for me. When I need customer service I just go into the store and I’m treated courteously and professionally.
