So I originally went to Robinson's to get my engagement ring resized where I had ordered it 3 sizes too big (My rings are custom through Etsy). They did a great job of fixing it for me to where you couldn't tell that anything had been done...but that's really where my good experience ends. I bought my wedding band about a year later - around 3 weeks before the wedding. I realized that the rings didn't lay flat stacked against each other. I mentioned something to the girl at the counter when dropping off the band to be resized (Etsy seller didn't have sizes as small as I needed), and she looked at the ring a moment before suggesting we remove the undercarriage. She explained that the pronged undercarriage was just there for decoration and wasn't supporting my center stone at all, and that was the only thing in the way of the rings stacking together. So, naturally, I asked "Is there any risk to that?" and she popped into the back to ask the jeweler to be sure, but they confirmed it would be easy - no problems. I was very excited. So I gave them my engagement ring to be altered along with my wedding band to be sized down and waited to get the call that it was ready. They got it done within a week and when I picked them up the jeweler, Justin Robinson, came out to give them to me. He told me he tightened all my black diamonds (that go around both bands) because they all seemed rather loose. I thanked him, paid, and took my rings with me. I was running late to work so I just put the engagement ring on and went about my day. At 5 I went to my then-fiance's work to visit him where he pointed out to me that one of my diamonds was missing. I frantically searched the ring and saw that one was gone with just an empty slot there. I was so upset! My Fiance' took the ring from me to inspect it and see if any others were missing when he says "your stone has a big scratch on it", and lo and behold but it did. I was irate. My Smoky Quartz center stone had a scratch on the bottom of it that looked to us as if it was done when the undercarriage was removed. So of course I call Robinson's and tell them my stone in scratched and my diamond is missing and they ask me to bring it back in the morning. The next morning I speak to Justin Robinson who says the diamond fell out because "remember I told you they looked loose" (didn't he say he tightened them? and none fell out in the year I'd been wearing it?) and that the Quartz stone was probably scratched when he was messing with both my rings under the microscope to see how they fit together. He noticed they just barely touched. He handed the ring back to me and told me if it "really bothered" me to bring it back and he would see if it could be polished, but otherwise they would put in a new black diamond for me. I let them do that work and then hoped that the scratch on my stone wouldn't bother me... Fast forward to 8 months after the wedding. I no longer wear my engagement ring because every time I do the scratch gets worse. I finally get fed up enough with it to go back in and talk to Justin. He agrees to send it to be polished and we will see if anything can be done to prevent more scratching. I'm hoping that maybe I will actually be able to wear my ring! Until he calls me and tells me that it'll be $150 to polish the stone, and then we still have to figure out something else to altar the band so it won't scratch. Or I could get a new stone for $30 (?!) and then we will probably have to polish that down in size...and then still figure out the alteration part. I flat out broke down in tears on the phone and couldn't speak. My sister took the phone from me and told him to just give me the ring back and we will figure something else out.
TL;DR: They messed up my ring then wanted to charge to have me fix it. BAILEY'S is fixing their mistakes for them free of charge because they feel so horrible about what's been done to me. If you care about your jewelry, beware...
Read moreI had to take the time to leave a review. I'm a big proponent of shopping local, so a few years ago I found Robinsons while searching for a special gift for my wife to commemorate our 10th anniversary. They were very receptive to what I was looking for, a pair of earrings to match the style of my wife's wedding band, which was quite old and given to her by her grandmother. They curated several choices based on my description of the ring. They knocked it out of the part and I was able to give my wife a true heirloom to match her ring. Recently I returned to find my wife a heartfelt Christmas gift. My wife lost her sister, who was only 30, this year. I wanted my wife to be able to keep her sister close to her heart forever so I wanted a locket. When I explained my intentions, it was clear they didn't have the right piece at the store. The staff helped me select an option that fit perfectly. They had the item brought into the store so I could see it before purchasing with no expectations for me to buy it should it not be perfect. This wasn't not the case as the locket They helped select was absolutely perfect. A gold locket with an angel on the front and a beautiful inscription on the back. They then helped me select a matching chain for a complete piece. They allowed me to put a down payment and I paid it off and picked it up a few weeks later after sizing photos of my wife's sister for the locket.
I really appreciate rhe attentiveness thst Robinsons give its customers. An art that is all but lost these days. The complimentary gift wrapping also really helps me out and they do a great job at that too. The bottom line is Robinsons offers concierge level service and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else but there for jewelery needs and happily recommend them.
I don't know the sales woman's name but she has helped me both times as a customer and she...
Read moreSo happy I stopped into Robinson Jewelers on my difficult search to find a matching wedding band for my pear shaped engagement ring.
My fiance and I had been to various different jewelers (in NC and FL) searching for the perfect fit, but had come to the conclusion that I would probably need something custom. As stubborn as I am, I was convinced that there HAD to be something out there to fit perfectly. So, on a random day off I decided to go searching one last time.
Thankfully, I had the pleasure of finding Robinson Jewelers. From the time I walked in the door I was greeted by the friendly staff, offered water/coffee, and I sat down with one of the girls to try on everything they had. It seemed like we were having the same troubles that I had at other stores. That's when she called over Gina.
I am SOO happy to have met Gina! She asked all the right questions, educated me on my ring, why things looked the way they did, what I needed vs what wouldn't work. I could go on and on. Gina took the time out to try on everything that they had to get close to what I was looking for. But then went above and beyond in my eyes - no one had done this at any other store - took the time out to go through the pages and pages of books to identify things that they did not have in the store that would work. She was almost more picky than I was - - which I totally appreciated because I was having a hard time visualizing from pages in a book! lol We ended up picking out 3 different bands that could possibly work for my ring. She ordered them for me to view and within 3 days my fiance and I were back at Robinson's to look at what we picked.
I am beyond THRILLED that we did not have to go the custom route. Gina's expertise and years in the industry definitely shined with my complex search to find the perfect match. Thank you so much for everything! Best jeweler in...
