Egg Yolk Cafe — Restaurant in Greenville

Me and my son have been here twice for a breakfast date and this has been the worst experience for us. The customer service lacking assertiveness and just simple kindness. As we were ordering the server actually started to pull the menu out of my hand. So at that point it wasn’t no need for me to order for myself. It really made me feel rushed and almost unwanted. As we waited for the drink to come to the table, a gentleman was walking to each table and was checking in on customers at other tables but he decided to walk straight pass us. At this point I knew I made the wrong decision in coming here. However, because I knew my toddler was ready to eat, I had no choice but to remain to be served his food. As the server dropped off the drink and about sometime later the food came out, which I can say was great timing with the food. Both time the food had not been the issue, it’s been customer service. I want to say about less than 5mins later the server brought the check over which then let me know I will never return here ever again. So I kindly paid right then and there and asked for a to-go because I refuse for my toddler and I to receive this type of treatment. It’s really unacceptable and very unfair to be treated this...

My little sister is graduating today from ECU. Me and my family arrived and excited to eat breakfast with her and heard this was a great spot. Shortly after arriving the server or who ever he was advised us they could not seat 8 people together because there was not a table that big. Well ok that’s fine most places don’t.. in my head I’m thinking can we scoot 2 tables together can we be seated side by side, can we meet halfway so we can enjoy time with our family. He proceeded to make smart remarks and talk down to us just being extremely hateful and making as if we were ruining his day and just bothering him hugging and puffing still saying things under his breath. At that point we decided we would not spend our money at an establishment like this. Why would 8 people stay pay to eat and tip at an establishment that they are clearly unwelcomed at. We let them know and he said so I just went out of my way to move these tables after you complained about it and now you don’t want to sit. I honestly don’t know if it was because we were black or if they just didn’t want to deal with us today. I was extremely disappointed that my little sister had to be treated this way on a day she should be happy about...

We went here for Mother's Day at the request of my mother-in-law. Having seen the reviews I was skeptical, but it was her breakfast not mine so we all went (5 of us in total). 45 minute wait after ordering, my husband's steak was very rare when he ordered it medium. He took 2 bites and found that it was luke warm in the middle as well so he stopped eating it and asked for it to be fixed. They offered to cook the remaining piece of steak or remake it for him. He asked for it to be remade, so they took his plate away with the remainder of his meal still on it (homefries) and returned only with a cooked steak so he wasn't able to eat his entire meal. My meal came out correct, but $12 for what was ordered, was not justified as it just wasn't that good. Once the meal was done, we spent another extended period trying to flag down the waitress to get the check. When we received the check, it included over a 30% gratuity. The reality is, they force gratuity because they don't pay their staff and know that no one would tip given the poor service and poor food quality. I do not recommend, there are plenty better breakfast places...
