My family and I usually enjoy going to Emporium 31 and finding hidden treasures, but today was not one of those days.Today we noticed a sign on the door stating that masks are mandatory inside the establishment, yet the employees were not wearing masks...and that's just the icing on this cake. We asked a young blonde employee for assistance opening a glass case so my children could look through a bin of toys. The employee opened the case then proceeded to take/make a disturbing phone call right in front of my two children. I guess he had to stand there so we wouldn't make off with any 10cent toys. I won't go into details, although I wish I had recorded the whole thing on my phone, but there was profanity, threats, and talks of someone taking their own life. I tried to talk over the employee in an attempt to direct my childrens' attention to me instead, but he kept going on and on like he was in a back alley brawl. I told him we'd like to look through the toy bin somewhere else, just away from him, but he just apologized and continued his extremely inappropriate conversation! My boyfriend told him to take his phone call somewhere else and he moved back a booth but was still carrying on. Once he finally ended his phone call, he pulled my boyfriend to the side and apologized again *not to myself or my children * and then asked us for help finding his keys he had lost at some point during this phone call that consumed him and made him forget where he was and who was listening! I couldn't get out of that place fast enough. I took my children outside while my boyfriend paid and then I found out that this employee tried to over charge us! I would have liked to have spoken with a manager or someone who would actually care, but as I looked at the mask less faces as I mentioned before, I figured I'd just be wasting my breath. So this is my platform. I liked Emporium 31, but after today's trip and witnessing such an absurd lack of human decency in this particular employee, it's the one thing I will always think of and remember about Emporium 31. Based on my reveiw in addition to many others, it might be in this business's best interest to clean house in regards to its incompetent employees and also, quite literally, clean...
Read moreI want to start off by saying I love this store, I love the varieties they have and the deals they give. I am really disappointed in the way they handled things with me last week. So, my sister was telling me how they overcharged her but since she didn't get a receipt she couldn't do anything. We both know things happen, but the manager overcharged me $10. I only know this because I asked for a detailed receipt (You have to ask for one). I proceed to tell the manager and she is rude about it saying everyone makes mistakes, I had two lady's in front of me saying mean things about me as I'm standing there quietly waiting in line for a refund. The manager tried to overcharge the lady's making fun of me $75! She laughed it off saying she saw what she did, instead of putting .75 she put 75.00. I am sorry but why are you putting one 0 after .75 let alone two 0s? I would advise everyone to get a detailed receipt and make sure they are not over charging you. The worst part is they took an additional $25 out of my account the next day. I called Emporium 31 and the manager told me that they credited my account then tried to take the money out again. When I contacted my bank they told me that they never did try to credit the money back to me. I am so glad I used my bank card, if I had used my other card I would be out of luck. PLEASE ASK FOR A...
Read moreLet me start by saying the place is gigantic.Of all the emporium branded flea markets around the Indianapolis area this one is have down the best. When it comes to variety the selection covers just about every category. The options range from early 1900's antiques to brand new trending items, some new old pieces, to gently used fair, and the flea market staple of returned merchandise being sold as is. Be mindful of these as with any returned resale item, it's a game of chance as to the reason it was returned in the first place, it could be perfectly fine, slightly damaged but otherwise no worse the wear, broken but repairable, or the whammy unrepairable but looks perfectly fine. Like most flea markets some booths are a little pricier than others but it's mostly filled with very reasonably priced good but with the vast size of the place your almost guaranteed to find what your looking for at more than one of the booths. We spent four hours meandering through the seemingly endless aisles and i know we didn't see 5% of the treasures this place has within it's walls. Clean, family friendly not cramped and a definite must stop if your looking for a great resale experience. Plan on making a day of it if you want to scratch more than just the surface or even make it from...
