I had a recent color appointment with Maci, aiming for a deep burgundy/wine tone like the one in my inspiration photo. I was clear about the shade I wanted during our consultation, and also transparent about having box dye in my hair from about 8 months ago. Maci was confident we could still achieve the desired result.
We went through a double process — using an oil-based lightener followed by color application. After the first session, the color came out much more vibrant and bright red than expected — not the deep, rich tone I had envisioned. I completely understand that every person’s hair reacts differently to lightener and color, and I also know that stylists can’t always predict exactly how hair will lift or process, especially with prior color involved. That said, I was disappointed that the result was so far off from the inspo photo. I also recognize that everyone perceives color differently, and what a stylist sees versus what a client sees can sometimes be two different things — but I felt this was more than just a slight difference in perception.
After expressing my concerns, Maci was very kind and open to making adjustments. She had me come back the next day for a correction, which I appreciated. The result after the correction was closer to what I wanted, and I left feeling more comfortable. However, some issues remained — a few front pieces didn’t lift properly, leaving brown and yellow tones, and there were still some fiery red sections that didn’t fully take the new color. I also had noticeable staining on my forehead and neck that wasn’t cleaned off before I left.
One important note: I was originally quoted between $250–$300, but ended up paying $457.81 total (including a $75 tip). For that price point and the time invested across two sessions, I expected a result much closer to the vision I came in with.
Overall, Maci was incredibly personable and clearly cares about her clients. This isn’t meant to be a negative review — just constructive feedback. With more attention to detail in the application process and setting realistic expectations around lifting and saturation, I believe she has strong potential to become a very successful stylist. I appreciate her effort to make things right and the time she put into...

I simply asked for was dirty blonde highlights to my hair being bright orange, looking like a carrot to then her then using her nails and clawing at my hair during a blow out because she didn’t know how to use a brush to me leaving crying because it was horrible and being charge 280 for awful hair and end up having to go to someone else and spend 800 dollars to get it fixed elsewhere .Do to her, causing horrible banding in my hair and the wrong toner. To one of my coworkers sister having a similar issue with her right before her wedding, and her destroying her hair completely and her then being extremely disrespectful to a wonderful military wife’s and veterans and talking bad behind two wonderful marines back complaining all because she fried her hair off and did a choppy cut . she should be fired and have her cosmetology...
Read moreI absolutely love everything about going to District 108. In fact, I drive an hour and a half to do so and would not hesitate to recommend that you do the same because you will not regret it! The place itself is adorable, well kept, clean, and ridiculously cute. The people are even better! I personally see Taylor, and she never fails to make me look and feel my best! No matter what sort of fun color I ask her for, she delivers and does so with the utmost professionalism. She caters to her clients individual needs and will make you laugh and cry with her stories if you’re up to chatting, but if you’d prefer to just sit and relax, she’ll accommodate for that too. I am always offered an iced coffee, water, or other refreshment to sip on while I’m there, and everyone in the salon truly caters to what you need. Other stylists have struck up conversations in the past, commenting on the style or the story she’s telling, and it really makes me feel like I’m just hanging out with a close group of friends. The owner of the salon has even stopped over and helped with getting my natural curls to pop after my color and cut! Basically I love every thing about this place and I could keep going but I’ll just leave it at that and say you should definitely already be calling for your...
