In early September, my husband and I went to Tim's furniture to look at a sofa and television stand for our living room. The salesperson (Christina) that helped us was very helpful and nice and all was well. The furniture we picked out seemed like good quality and was in the style we wanted for our home. We paid for the furniture in full (no financing). We were told delivery would be in 6-8 weeks from that date.
8 weeks pass... No furniture, no communication. We called and each person we spoke to put us on hold and passed us to another person at the store. We went in person and were told it would be another 4 weeks and there was a delay. We decided to wait since ordering from another store would take just as long and we already paid.
4 weeks more pass... No furniture, no communication. We went in person this time and they were unable to give us a date on when we would have furniture. We asked for a refund. We were told it would have to go through accounting and would be back in our account within 2-5 business days.
6 business days have passed... no refund or further communication. I called them and was put on hold when I asked to speak to the manager. Eventually, the manager was on the phone. I explained the situation again and told them that if I did not have a refund by tomorrow morning, we were going to contact the Better Business Bureau and our attorney for a small claims case to get a refund. The manager tried to say that a refund had been issued. I said no, it has not (I had our banking app open and checking it just to be sure). He then said, oh it must not have processed, can you bring the card to the store and we will issue the refund. I said absolutely, we will be there in 15 minutes.
At the store... they take our card, receipt and driver's license. They try to talk us out of the refund by saying there was a "miscommunication". No sir. There was no communication unless we contacted you first was our reply. They processed the refund and gave us a receipt. We checked our bank account in the store to make sure it went through, because I don't trust them. As we're about to leave, I scanned the QR code for Google reviews that they have on their counter. The manager asked if we were going to leave a bad review and said we should not because we got a refund. That's not how it works sir.
TLDR: Don't try to buy furniture from Tim's Furniture. There will be no communication, and you'll get no furniture and have to threaten legal action to...
Read moreHere's my story, and it's not good... Way, way back in the beginning of March of 2024 my wife and I picked a sofa we liked at Tim's Furniture Mart in Hagerstown, MD. We ordered 2 of the same sofa's which had electric recliners with a warranty for $3250. At that time we were told 4 to 6 weeks to receive the sofa's.
In the beginning of May we called and asked what was the status of the sofa order. When Sam got back to us he said the manufacturer was having trouble getting the fabric for the sofa's. He told us 2 more weeks.
Three weeks later we called again. Same problem 2 more weeks.
So this went on and on until the beginning of July 2024 when the sofa's were finally delivered.
We were happy that the sofa's finally arrived but soon were seeing what we think were manufacturing problems. The first obvious problem was the buttons that run the recline and head rest movement were different from one side to the other side of the sofa. What was odd was the difference from one side to the other was the same on both sofa's. Then we noticed a significant difference in one of the recliners material fit. When the foot rest was up there was so much material it bunched up and made it very uncomfortable under your legs.
We also found that one of the arm rests padding moved so much that you could feel the wood underneath.
We soon found that material started to bunch up on the seats, like it was not tight.
We called Tim's Furniture and told them our problems. The told us they would have someone come take pictures. Which did happen but there was no follow up. We called again and they asked us to take pictures and send them via e-mail. We did this and still no follow up.
Finally fed up I posted as message on Facebook as well as other places online documenting our problems.
A week or so later Sam called us and wanted to know what he could do for us to solve the problem and get me to remove the Facebook post.
Trying to make a long story short, we agreed that Tim's would take back the current sofa's and we would purchase a different manufacture's leather sofa's at a $3000 discount. This was in March of 2025.
Again, we were told 4 to 6 weeks. Again, the sofa's were a no show and we keep being told 2 more weeks, 2 more weeks. It is now September and Tim's Furniture Mart has not returned my last 3 calls.
So, my recommendation to you is to avoid at all cost Tim's Furniture, no matter how much discount, no matter how nice...
Read moreI would love to give this place a good review. They have a great selection of furniture and not-too-bad prices. Unfortunately, I can't go above one star and I wish I could do less. Sorry for the long post but I read reviews to get a sense of a store so I wanted to share our experience. We went to Tim's on November 11, 2023 looking to buy a recliner as a Christmas present. We found a few that we liked but decided to shop around before deciding. As we were leaving, Kevin told us to make sure to come back and that he would give us free delivery and also told us they had 36 mo interest free financing. After looking around we went back to Tim's the same day and picked out a chair. When we were checking out we were surprised to be told there would be a delivery charge of $199. We asked what happened to free delivery and were told we hadn't spent enough to qualify. We also only got 24 mos interest free financing for the same reason. Both of these things threw red flags for us but we accepted a little responsibility for not reading the very fine print on the sale poster on the door, instead believing what the salesman (who is also part owner) told us. We went ahead with the purchase and were told to expect the chair in 4 to 5 weeks. The holidays came and went and still no chair. We visited the store several times and were always told they would check on the delivery and promised a call that never came. Finally, on Feb 10, 2024, we went to the store to request a refund. After some shuffling about to see if the chair was actually in the warehouse, they admitted it wasn't but was to be delivered that week. We had had enough and told them we wanted a refund anyway. Surprisingly, they said no problem and were able to refund the delivery charge right then. The actual charge for the chair was separate but they promised they would get on it right away and it would take about 5 days to see the credit. It is now March 5th and still no credit. I have disputed the charge with the credit card company so we should get our entire $1600 back but they lost a customer who would have bought more furniture from them. Moral of the story, if you decide to shop here, be wary of promised shipping times and promises of interest-free financing/free...
