Mother Land Market — Local services in Hamden

This is indubitably one of the best African stores in Connecticut. It’s a one stop shop for every kind of African and Caribbean groceries. I visited today and was really impressed. The attendant I met was very courteous, and a good conversationalist with the most engaging sense of humor, that I almost didn’t want to leave. It’s family friendly; pretty close to the road, and can be easily noticed from a vehicle in normal traffic. Avoid this place if you can. Not clean,smelly and very, very rude customer service. On top of that there is no parking. I was asked to get stuff for someone and the inside of the store is simply disgusting. To get an item, there are boxes that you are expected to get past.

One of the items was on the shelf and there was a man eating loudly there and I asked how do I get the stuff from the shelf when there are no ladders with boxes thrown all over.

Came in to buy authentic chicken. Didn't smell the best but I heard they prepare food right in the shop (like butchering the chicken and so forth) Guy didnt have change for the cash I gave him and had to get it from another customer.
