Wow! As far as supermarkets go this is probably the largest and most amazing one we've ever been in!
Not only do they have food but they have their own liquor store in the same building, they also have several little mini restaurants that you can eat as well. There are also tables that you can sit at and they even have one room that seems more like a living room with fireplaces and a TV which you can sit down and eat your food.
At this store you can see a huge variety of products. Many products I don't find anywhere else and they have great seafood and meat section. Meat section is amazing! We even saw fresh monkfish in the seafood department! if you don't know what monkfish is Google it it's amazing looking!
We enjoyed going into the candy department and getting candy by the pound. We never get a full pound because the price is high, but it's nice to be able to sample candies for getting 1/10 or quarter of a pound at the most.
The restrooms are located in front of the registers. In all my years visiting places this is the closest to a perfect set up of the restroom, where the stalls are in one location then the sink and the hand dryer and soap dispensar are all together. The soap dispenser and hand- dryer are both over the sink so that no water spills on the floor like so many of the restrooms. I cannot tell you how many places put the hand-dryer over the floor directly and then have a puddle underneath it and then do nothing but put a sign up saying "Wet floor" thank you very much that helps!
the supermarket actually has it right the supermarket has a lot of things right ! This is definitely a supermarket to which you want to...
Read moreSpacious and vibrant. Lots of dining options as there is a food court. There is also an attached liquor store (albeit to comport with New Jersey law technically separate from the supermarket). Any one who has been to a Wegmans knows that there is definitely a cult like aspect to its support. This store, like most, is modern, clean, colorful and a cornucopia for the senses.
Wegmans has a reputation for being more expensive on average than most large supermarkets but I was pleasantly surprised to find that on most products Wegmans is competitive and on some products it is actually less expensive. Tropicana Orange Juice, for example, without a published sale - the Wegmans price was about a dollar less than the typical price at nearby Shop Rite stores.
My quibbles are modest and one cannot be helped. The location is somewhat hidden, about a mile up an access road off of a major road. Route 10 westbound before the turn off includes a merge from I-287. If you are not approaching from the interstate but from Route 10 it can be difficult moving over in heavy traffic.
The second quibble is more of a failure to take account the nearby demographics. While the store carries all of the major brands and a multitude of dining options, it's supply of basic-brand kosher foods is sorely lacking. Oh they have the typical kosher counter with pickles and gefilte fish - but it is the display I would expect to find in suburban Virginia, or Wisconsin. But for a store located minutes from some of the most densely populated Jewish populations in the United States it is sorely lacking and...
Read moreMy husband and I went grocery shopping at Wegman Hanover on May 31, 2023. The cashier Cheryn had finished the transaction for a while with the male customer ahead of us. Meanwhile Cheryn was still out of the counter with the male customer looking on his phone. We waited for about 4-5 minutes before my husband said to them that we have been waiting. The male customer made a nasty remark that we don’t have patience and can’t even wait for two minutes and said angrily that were terrible people. He followed by questioning my husband if he is Cuban. By the way the male customer and the cashier Cheryn are both white and my 75 year old husband is Hispanic and I am an 72 year old Asian. I responded to him, “that was none of his business”. He then told me that I was very ugly in return for at least three times and we were terrible people at least five times. Meanwhile the cashier said to me that was enough. I told her to stop the male customer instead. She did not. The male customer left on his own. While we were paying I told the cashier the she should have acknowledged that we were waiting but instead of apologizing she dismissed us that she didn’t want the customer next to us to wait and she just want us out of there. I reported this incident to the manager at Wegman. She said she will make sure this will not happen again and will inservice Cheryn for customer relation skills. My husband and myself are still both traumatize for the insults and disrespect we had experienced at Wegman. We never humiliated...
