Scottish Inn Whippany — Hotel in Hanover Township

‼️DO NOT RENT HERE‼️ 𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟𝗬!! 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗟𝗬 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧‼️ I understand.. the price attracts everyone but please read fully!. I took a chance with this hotel and was eaten by bed bugs literally (this is serious) I went to the front desk to let the owner know and surprisingly was cursed clean out! I was so shocked that my lips were sealed! He stated that it’s us (the guests) who rents from him who are nasty and it’s not his fault. He then went on to say that he doesn’t care and the only people he is worried about is his family! He says he’s been dealing with “Americans” for many years and we don’t like to take care of things. When I tried to tell him I didn’t want to talk about race only the bed bugs he then got loud and started fanning his hand at me like “get away from the desk” that’s when I said I would write a review and he said he doesn’t care it’s not going to stop people from renting from him and he will be sure to make a liar out of me he said; (“I will just go on there and say it isn’t true”) his exact words…. Well he can’t say that because I began to record him and have most of it recorded. He also stated that his hotel stays full and people will rent from him anyway so he doesnt care! Truthfully The place is really condemned smells extremely musty and moldy there are a host of homeless people in and out and hanging around .. nothing against them but they shouldn’t be hanging around they should be in a room as guests…I tried to save money and this is what I got! I have no reason to make this up… if you are reading this and still rent from this property you are asking for a disaster in one way or another‼️𝙏𝘼𝙆𝙀 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝘼𝙎 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 𝙒𝘼𝙍𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙀𝙑𝙀𝙉 𝙄𝙁 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝙍𝙄𝘾𝙀 𝙒𝙀𝙍𝙀 $1 𝙨𝙡𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙚𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚!! I will also follow up with the "BBB" please see photos.. I did not 𝗌𝖾𝖾 these bugs until i realized i had been bitten in face back, arms and one on leg that i pulled fitted sheet ofg and discovered the matress was covered with them! This made my flesh crawl‼️ 𝑅𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑠𝑎𝑓𝑒𝑡𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑡ℎ 𝑖𝑠 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝗇 𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑦.

Call this a one and a half star review.

I found this hotel through Kayak and booked it because it was the cheapest hotel available. Sleeping there I completely understand the price tag. The good news first: I didn’t find any bugs in the room. I also didn’t wake up feeling bitten so I do not believe there were any bedbugs. I can also say that the staff is responsive and my possessions were in the same place I left them when I returned. The bathroom was well stocked with toilet paper and there was bar soap as well. The bathtub was clean. I also received a wake up call on the final day, which helped me avoid leaving late as I forgot the checkout time. They apparently had wifi, but I never had the chance to use it.

The bad news: The offices closes at night, this was troubling when the toilet failed to flush. I told them about it in the morning and, as I stated above, they responded promptly and it was working by the time I returned in the evening. The light in the bathroom had an odd and very old switch that was difficult to use (it jammed when turning on but turned off just fine). I originally thought an exposed piece of metal was the switch, but I believe that was meant to be part of a knob that would turn on the fan. I could not turn the fan on for that reason. The door to the bathroom didn’t have a working lock. I did not want to touch he shampoo packet as it had an odd stain on it. The fixture where, presumably, one would put some sort of napkins was hanging from the wall. The outlet next to the bed (which was hidden behind a nightstand) had no faceplate. There were hairs on the bed sheets. The bed was a little uncomfortable. There were only two wall outlets that I could find and one of them wasn’t near any furniture so whatever you were charging had to sit...

Dirty, Rude, Liars. ||The rooms smelled like smoke, weed, and the hallway smelt like incense. We had a non-smoking room. The sheets were dirty. There were chips and stains in the bed under the sheets. There were roaches coming out of the wall going into the shower. Gross. ||Didn't feel clean trying to take a shower. Ended up taking a shower at another friend's hotel. They originally gave up one towel for two people. We tried to call for more and they originally brought us still wet towels before we had them go get ones that were actually dry. ||Phone doesn't have a dial tone but it can ring to us. ||Went down to office to complain about room and towels. They gave us a different room. Unfortunately, we had to get a single king instead of our two doubles and had to share a bed. ||We left to eat and my one friend found a new room in a new hotel so she went back for her belongings. She did not have a room key so she asked the night attendant if she could get a key to access the room. He said he couldn't and walked her to the room to get her belongings. He did not contact me Nor did he check her ID to see if that was her room or if she was supposed to be in there. In addition, he left the door open. Luckily, nothing was touched or stolen but anything could have happened. In fact when we asked him about it, he denied that he went upstairs with our friend, saying he stayed downstairs the entire time.||He also tried to sell our friend another room. ||When we asked for a manger, none were available. They didn't have a manager on duty the entire four days we were there. It also smelt like cat urine...
