Do not order food here. After the two bad experiences I've had, I will only ever purchase gas and prepackaged items at this location - nothing prepared in store. As someone who is food safety certified, I can tell even just from a customer's perspective this place does not practice good food safety. The potential risks I've encountered include STAFF infections, ecoli, norovirus, and any other food borne illness that can be spread by lack of hand washing. See below for my experiences.
The only reason I'm giving this location two stars instead of one, is for the time one of the clerks was kind enough to walk out to my gas pump with me and show me how to claim the fuel discounts offered in the app, as I had just signed up moments before purchasing my gas.
The first incident, winter 2023: the lady was not prompt in preparing my order. She was catching up with who I gathered was a past employee. She reached in her back pocket to lend him her phone WITH HER GLOVES ON and I'm not sure if she washed up and changed them before making my sub. I'm assuming not, given she didn't seem bothered by getting whatever was on her gloves on her clothes when she reached in her pocket. I spoke with the manager for a refund. I could tell by the look on his face and the lack of eye contact he thought I was being overdramatic. The cashier, also picking up on this, was very understanding and validating. So the second star is for her, too.
The second incident, today, Friday, May 31 2024: I stopped to pick up a sub for lunch, again, thinking maybe the last bad experience was a fluke and maybe some corrective training took place since last time. It was a different gal working so I was hopeful. I go to eat my sub on my lunch break and right on top of the bun was a small, curly black hair. The only thing worse than a having a hair in your food is having a hair in your food that looks like a pube. Being that this was all I had for lunch and I was so hungry my blood sugar was dropping, I pinched off the chunk of bread containing the hair and started eating from the opposite end of the sub, praying whoever's hair it was wasn't a natural carrier for STAFF. About 4-5 bites in, I found another hair on one of my green peppers. Disgusted and sad, I had no choice but to throw the thing away. I'll be stopping by after work today for a refund. I know life is hard for everyone right now with inflation and that their employees don't make anything close to a liveable wage, but the amount of effort it takes to make sure people don't get sick...
Read moreThis is the original CoFair remodeled and updated as âCoFair Express â , wheelchair accesible curb access to left of main doors . Manual pull doors , restrooms ,small dining area , hot and cold drinks / more limited deli and food than the bigger expanded new location across the street , fuel , lottery , PNC ATM ( does not sell alcohol you have to go across the street for that ) coffee bar and fountain drinks , restrooms , open Wi-Fi , clean sanitary neat , pandemic precautions at all POS areas . Last summer the location closest to me sold s Red white & blue sweet and sour gummy type ribbon candy we really enjoyed it , by the time we ate it all , they had no more . Today they had a full âpower towerâ display , itâs called Zweet photo included below , it was like finding an old friend again . Because itâs an express it has traditional brewed by the pot coffee hot plates , it makes sense as they update stores with the new high tech fresh by the cup machines to recycle the burner systems to express locations , probably not a bad idea for training staff and managers at smaller locations before moving them to full stores ( just my perspective from being a retail manager taking a $250,000 sales store and making it a $ 1 million sales store ) get âem trained on procedures sanitation , fronting, cleaning , customer service , inventory at express seems like...
Read moreVery clean and nice, but one staff members in particular was just unnecessarily rude. One of the chip readers just didn't like either of my cards, which happens at cofair often. So I double checked that I had money via online banking and got into another line. Other customers could use the cashier that wasn't reading my cards, but bc of how the lines work some asked if I was ahead. It was then he had to make a comments, more than twice that it wouldn't take which I replied each time I was fine and checked my statements online. Shock of shocks, it rang up the first try at the new register.
So to the older worker, with short white hair, about 5'3, and in a Tie-dyed shirt, go back and do us all a favor and retake your customer...
