El Canelo Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Harborcreek Township

This establishment has fallen far over the years since I left my original four star review. The establishment is in severe disrepair and disarray.

The food quality has declined significantly from even 2-3 years ago. I wouldn't even call it good at this point. I have no problem paying 8-12 dollars for a good Margherita but if it's Cuervo sours with cheap tequila and you expect to get repeat business then they are sorely mistaken. Skip the Margherita for you and your guest because for the same price you could make one yourself from the liquor store across the street.

There are small children freely running around and their toys etc cluttering multiple booths and other areas. The business clutter is also all over the place. We waited a good five minutes to even be cashed out after having our check.

I think this little restaurant deserves more stars than it is getting! We were greeted promptly by our hostess/ waitress who was very pleasant and seated us promptly. We ordered lime Margaritas which were delicious! The chips and salsa was well done. The salsa had a great little kick that was not to hot. There are a wide variety of options and we found the portions more than enough with a small amount to take home. I had the chicken fajitas and my husband had tejana fajitas, both perfectly done! Went to El Canelo's on a Thursday night, so it wasn't very busy. The restaurant itself was in terrible condition- More than 3/4 of the lights were turned off or not working, while half of the ceiling tiles were either missing or water stained. The tables themselves seemed dirty. The food was okay, but service was slow (there were 5 tables at most) making me wonder how they could handle a busy Friday night. Checking out, I noticed there was no one out front who appeared to be of age to pour alcohol, which was concerning to say the least. Sorry to say I won't be returning...
