Daughter in law took 3 month old last night to ER. Baby was breathing and wheezing hard. She had a video to show the doctor but he walked away when she pulled it up. Said he would not listen to her at all. Said this was normal and sent her home. Mom had to tell him she was diagnosed with bronchitis and had been on breathing treatments and sister has pneumonia and RSV. He tested her for RSV and said it was negative. He did absolutely nothing for her
Next morning, she is breathing harder and her Pediatrician told her to get her to ER. She is driving hour and 1/2 to get to a childrenās hospital because they didnāt want to mess with another rural hospital.
I sent the video to a family member who is a retired nurse, she said this was not normal and the hospital must hire vets.
This is sad. Why be a doctor if you are not willing to do the work and least act like you are concerned especially when dealing with a baby.
Iām so disgusted with the treatment that was received
UPDATE: Baby was admitted to childrenās hospital. They said there was nothing normal about her breathing. She was there for 5 days on oxygen and IV. My son called Breck Co ER director and left a message almost a week ago and she has not returned his call. The ER pediatrician asked to see the video that Breck Co doctor walked out on and could not believe he said that it was normal by what he saw. RSV was negative at Breck but positive at Childrenās
UPDATE 2: They finally called back and made everything sound great; however, that was the end of that. She had to take the oldest daughter (2 yrs) for a rash. It was late and thought maybe there was another doctor working but low and behold the same doctor as last time and he recognized her. He was very rude and refused to run a urine test to see if bacteria was causing the problem. Asked her if she ever thought about doing things herself at home before she came to hospital. He kept bringing up the youngest daughter and how childrens hospital just observed her. She did nothing for the child there at the time. Daughter-in-law then went off and asked him then why did the have her for 4 days on oxygen. He continue to push her on the matter. She finally grab the child and walked out. She said she will die on the side of the road before she goes back if that doctor was still there. I do believe itās worth a 30-40 minute drive to Leitchfield hospital from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy mamaw was in Breckinridge Memorial on comfort measures for a couple of weeks. We could not have asked for a better experience during such a difficult time. Every single nurse and CNA treated us like family. They checked on us and even came to visit on their off days. Dr. Smith and Dr. O'Donahue were so patient with us and with mamaw and provided amazing care in her final days. The kitchen staff were so kind and provided us with guest trays while we were there as we stayed 24/7 with mamaw. Before comfort care she was receiving therapy and they went above and beyond trying to help her get her strength back and to be able to perform some of her own activities of daily living. Housekeeping was so respectful and kind when they came in to clean her room. The lab and radiology staff were so kind and gentle with her. This hospital treats you like family and they actually care so much for not only their patients but also the family members of that patient. I will forever be grateful that this is where my mamaw was able to spend her final days. Surrounded by so much love and compassion. Small...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in and out within a little more than an hour. The front desk staff and nurses were very nice. They even called to check up on me the next day. The doctor on call however is a different story. He was judgemental, opinionated and not helpful. He was more concerned about my Covid vaccination status than my illness at hand. All he ordered was a Covid test (which was neg). He didn't check my ears nose or throat, or listen to my chest. He sent me on my way with nothing after diagnosing me with an upper respiratory infection, and honestly I feel like that was a generic diagnosis so he didn't have to spend anymore time on me. I would not return if I knew he was working. He was completely useless. It was a complete waste of a visit, not to mention an unnecessary bill as absolutely nothing was done. Was told to follow up...
