I don't usually give 5 star reviews. Most of the time I'll give 4. The 4's all provide amazing service and product. That being said, this small shop is a 5. It's very calm inside. No blaring lights like a traditional grocery. It was easy to maneuver with the smaller cart. They also had plenty of reusable and recyclable bags for use. I called ahead and the owner was helpful and kind. They're open Sunday which is great because of the free parking. They accept EBT. I can't use this shop for all my groceries, but the meat selection was great and the prices comparable to what you could pay in a large grocery for organics. (And most if not all of these products are super local!!!) The produce was fresh. And they sold local coffee. I love the business community working together to support our city. If you want the BEST of fresh, local, organic food - I'd give Radish & Rye a chance (especially perishables - produce looks like it was grown in your granny's garden, and the cheese - HOLY HECK - if you like cheese, you need this shop in your life. I have loved this place from the start, there's no place like it for fresh, organic fruits, vegetables and meats. That being said, I had an absolutely sublime culinary experience today. I believe they call it, modestly enough, an apple tart. What?!?!? An apple tart? No, this was a remarkable balance of tender, just sweet enough apples, nestled inside the most perfectly golden brown and flaky pastry crust (it literally melts in the mouth). Top this with a sweet brown sugary crumb topping, then drizzle that with an apple cider glaze, and there you have it, the deceptively simple sounding, but scrumptious apple tart, Radish and Rye style. All local, all fresh, all tasty and always reliable, Radish & Rye consistently provides Midtown Harrisburg with affordable beautiful produce, tasty meats, fantastic cheeses, lovely breads and grab it and go unique vegetarian hummus mixes. Many more wonderful items that can't be found elsewhere colorfully adorn their clean and professionally maintained space. Dusty and Julia's commitment to their customers is beyond 5 star.
