Called to return bad shrimp and said "the shrimp we bought 30 mins ago was bad and we just threw away the trash; the receipt was in there. Is there a way to return the item without a receipt. Looking it up on the card we used?" Barb said " No we would need a receipt and we don't return produce, meat, or dairy. My fiance dumpster dived for the trash we just threw out for the receipt in the plastic bag. I Called a different piggly wiggly (Oconomowoc) to verify that the policy didn't change and why they won't return bad shrimp , produce, meat, or dairy? When we went into the store a gentleman helped us and was going about the return; barb came and was investigating the shrimp and asked "what's wrong with it"? My fiance said "it's bad. it's spoiled." Barb continues to look at the bag of shrimp , lifts the shrimp bag out of the grocery bag looks at more. Once again Barb asked " what's wrong with it?" I looked at bard and said "it's bad, soft, and mooshy." She looks at me and says " You didn't tell me it was bad on the phone". Looks at the gentleman and says go ahead. Walks away. My fiance just said " it's bad and spoiled " a few inches away from her? The gentleman that helped us he did a wonderful return with no further issues! (March 29th at 830pm) Bought the jumpo shrimp at 730pm. The shrimp smelt fine but it was limpy, brown, some slimy, and tasted very spoiled. Returned the...
Read more11/12/23 went into the store to get fox brats. Grabbed my usual flavors and noticed a grey/yellow slime on my hands. Smelled my hands right away and Smelled rotten death on my hands. I informed the staff that this area hasn't been cleaned in I'm guessing weeks due to the build-up of toxic pork juice from the thawing brats. This area should be sterilized daily due to the pork juice thawing. There was probably 1/4 inch of rotten yellow/grey biohazard pooled up festering for who knows how long.the butcher argued with me saying that they put the brats away frozen and it leaks out. That may be but the level of stink there means they never clean it at the end of the day and it rots. Can't deny the smell. I returned 2 hrs later and to see if it was clean because I buy my meat here. Guess what? It was still all pooled up by the brats people take home to cook. I'll never be back there EVER. Imagine what the other places they process mear looks like? The places customer can't go.the management I informed didn't seem too bothered. Probably the most disturbing thing I've seen in a grocery store ever. Also the butcher defensive about rotting meat juice just informed me that biohazard isn't a huge concern at this location. Beware people. This...
Read morePiggly Wiggly is my favorite place to stop for a quick grocery run. They've got a great selection of just about everything. While some items are not where you would initially expect them, they will be there somewhere.
It kinda sorta has the feel of a more budget oriented supermarket, but I might be confusing that with 'charm'. I much, much, MUCH prefer The Pig to the larger grocery chain in the area whose quality fell of a cliff in recent years.
Huge fan of their meat; I do a lot of sous-viding and grilling of steak in the summer and I've had repeated success with their Ribeyes. No matter when I shop, they've always got enough cashiers to prevent having to wait in line, which might be the biggest reason I stop in. (Edit: lines are becoming much more frequent, although generally tolerable)
The only thing I wish they had was...
