I have attended many estate sales hosted by this company and have finally reached my limit with Sue’s horrible attitude, especially towards young people.
At a sale today in old city, we waited patiently for an hour to get in and spent another hour or more in the store. As we approached the front, the owner of the business (who I have bought from many times in the past) gave us a price for a large piece of artwork, then continued pricing the rest of our items. We paid him directly in cash, just a few feet away from the cash register.
As we were walking out, Sue stopped us and began her usual antics. “Why would you do that!? What are you trying to do?! The register is up front as you can see.” I told her calmly that we paid the gentleman, who was right behind us with cash because he priced our items and accepted our payment. She continued to rudely badger us, while I asked if she’d like me to retrieve the cash, have her re-price things, etc. After she took the cash from him stopped making eye contact with me altogether.
In the past, she has physically scoffed or rolled her eyes at my offers on umarked items, patronized me to the point of taking things out of hands and has been pushy in every way. I understand she deals with people who are inflexible and not so understanding, but as the person in charge of these sales, needs to correct how she handles situations. Any kindness would be lovely. She ruined what would have been a great experience by publicly berating us for something that was never ill intended. I won’t be returning to her...
Read moreMy bride and I attend estate sales as a form of “date.” Such sales offer opportunities to purchase high quality linens, crystal, art frames, and similar items for a fraction of their value. On occasion, a special piece of art or furniture will demand our investment. We often find unexpected items that would make perfect birthday, anniversary, wedding, or winter holiday gifts for someone else, which we purchase and place in our "gift box" for such future event.
Although we have attended estate sales conducted by many sellers, those organized by Sue Odell and her team stand out. Her web site always features a hundred or more clear photos of items and groupings for sale. The photos inform us whether we want to arrive early before something sells or at a later time to shop for surprises.
It is clear that Sue and her team thoroughly clean the homes where estate sales take place, remove personal photographs from frames, dust and clean items for sale, and arrange items in related groups throughout the home. Indeed, items such as linens have been laundered and bound for attractiveness and to keep sets together. Further, Sue limits the number of people in a home at any time to ensure a relaxed shopping experience and avoid damage to home and valuables from overcrowding.
Sue places members of her staff throughout an estate sale home to answer questions and assist with moving items. Her staff is impeccably polite and helpful in countless ways. We cannot wait for Sue’s next estate sale.

That’s why I have chosen to work exclusively with Great Estate by Sue Odell.
