Nilah was recommended to me by many bridal shops and after doing a thorough search on the internet, I saw how cute their IG was and how they not only alter dresses but also convert old gowns into new dresses. From those factors alone, I decided to make an appointment. Everything from book an appointment to the meeting was easy and organized. Her assistants are easy to work with, they communicate what to do and what to expect. Nilah herself is so professional, experienced, fun and real. I trusted her completely. Her prices are reasonable and the alterations exceeded my expectations. She has an eye for style and she makes the alterations as if they were part of the original design. I had both a ceremony gown and a fitted reception dress for my wedding. They both needed hemming, while one needed the straps shortened and the other I wanted her to make off the shoulder straps. It was all pretty straight forward at the first fitting. They also communicate the estimated cost before beginning alterations. Now, my body went through some changes in the month prior, and my dress ended up being tight because my back widened (oops, too much lifting). Nilah was able to help me stay calm and give me alternatives so that I could be comfortable, such as adding a corset back that was pretty and seemed like it was the original plan. My bridesmaids were telling me they would have no idea it was an alteration if I hadn't told them. Nilah made the dress fit ME, not the other way around. She was able to do it in a pinch (aka 1-2 weeks prior) which was definitely stressful, but it goes to show how talented she is. I am so, so thankful and felt absolutely beautiful in my gowns. I highly...
Read moreI can’t thank Nilah & Company enough for the incredible work they did on my wedding dresses. They helped me transform two very special gowns into masterpieces that made my big day unforgettable.
One of the dresses was my grandmother’s, over 70 years old, and it had spent most of its life tucked away in a cardboard box. Nilah worked her magic, letting it out to make it fit perfectly and adding volume to give it a beautiful, full appearance. It truly felt like the dress had been given a second life.
The second dress underwent a transformation as well, with the train removed and the sleeves detached. Nilah ensured every detail was perfect, and the result was absolutely stunning.
She didn’t stop there—she even created a veil to perfectly match my grandmother’s dress and helped my mom and me decide on accessories for both gowns. Her guidance, patience, and expertise made the entire process a joy.
On my wedding day, I’ve never felt more beautiful. Everyone was in awe of both dresses, and it was such an honor to bring my grandmother’s dress back to life and celebrate her legacy in such a special way.
Nilah was an absolute pleasure to work with—her talent and attention to detail are unmatched. I can’t recommend her enough to any bride looking for someone to make their wedding dress...
Read moreI couldn't be more pleased with the work that Nilah did with my wedding gown and veil! I bought my wedding dress from Mari Mi Bridal, who told me the only seamstress they recommend is Nilah because of the wonderful work she does, and now I understand why! Nilah is very serious about her gowns, which I love. She gives it to you straight, and it's great to have a realistic idea of what you can and cannot do. The gown fit me like a glove, but didn't suffocate me, which I was worried about! I comfortably wore it all day and night!
And even more incredibly, she restored my maternal grandmother's veil to look like new! I desperately wanted to wear my grandmother's veil for my wedding, but it was completely yellowed and discolored from years of neglect. Nilah carefully cleaned every inch of my cathedral length veil BY HAND, and removed it from it's crown into a more modern and easier to maintain comb. It was absolute perfection.
Finally, she was able to take pieces of my paternal grandmother's wedding gown and make them into bouquet pins, a hair flower for me to wear that day, and a corsage for my grandmother to wear at the wedding. It was so special, and my grandmother was thrilled to have them...
