I have been going here for years, unfortunately I feel like they are slipping all over the place "again".I know other people that have left as well but I stayed and kind of let it play out until I had enough myself. There are still some great nail techs there and the salon owners are very nice always and very accomodating if they see what is going on. There seems to be a lot of chaos in there and client hand offs happening or musical chairs between techs. Last 2 times I went in there to get feet/nails done and have been walking out w/extra polish on skin, uneven nails, thinner brittle nails which are actually breaking faster because they are drilling too thin from lack of attention or patience, burning my nails with drill and making careless mistakes cutting you ( not washing tool after cuting me) , the nail tech I have had the last few times is obsessed with his phone and will stop the service to fool around on his phone rather often, or be on live feeds checking comments, or playing video games ( he is nice though) , there were kids running around screaming and fighting on the last visit which resulted in an odd altercation between the salon technicians because it was one of their kids - so much drama! , they tried their best to hide it in the back room but unfortunately that was far from hidden as there was nearly a fist fight rolling out of the back room and yelling in another language. I am also tired of the harassment for up charge services, I understand they have to ask but I am asked over and over after I say NO, then they start sending over other nail techs asking the same questions or act like they do no know how to do an overlay without padding on additional services. All I asked for was no tips, do an overlay w/a very little build up on nail. Owner knew exactly what I wanted and said ok, it took 6 different techs coming over trying to con me into other services or saying I cannot do for you and would walk away until I was finally casted away to someone who would. This is not hard stuff, I worked in the salon industry and know when I am being rustled. Also they need to get much better grip before state boards comes in as they throw their used tools and files in their little nail boxes and move to the next client...state boards hazzard. Nothing is hardly opened from new packaging. I need a serious break which is sad because generally I like the environment but they just cannot get a handle on this stuff - too many cooks in the kitchen and people doing their own things. In the end for a toe polish change only and DIP, I still had to pay 75.00...it was far from worth it, especially with how uneven it came out. Its like they get frustrated when they cannot lead you to the services they want you to do and then sometimes you simply get a...
Read moreI don’t know why I continue to give this place another chance. The work that they do is good, maybe that’s why. But, It’s just the social experience that is always the problem. They are overly pushy. Trying to make you spend additional $ when you’ve told them numerous times what exactly you want. I brought my boyfriend there for his first pedicure ever; this past summer. And he couldn’t believe how aggressive these techs were. He obviously had no idea what he was doing and they kept suggesting to him, add ons after I told her myself he was there for a standard pedicure. She kept on it; trying to cut me out of the conversation; by getting him to agree to spending more $, throughout his entire experience. Makes it hard to just “relax” when people are trying to scam you throughout. I told this lady today, just a classic pedicure. She asked me why not gel? Why aren’t I doing a manicure? I finally agreed to waxing of my eyebrows. Then she begins making suggestions relating to that service. I come there to relax!!! Not be hounded so you can make a few extra bucks. She then seemed irritated today I asked her for change. After she stood beside me as I asked her nicely, to give me a min as I needed to see how much cash I had on me. It’s like they apply the pressure when it comes to payment. Not allowing you a second to THINK. As she was getting change; she started speaking to others in a different language. I gave her 10$- 9$ was 20%. She never even said thank you! Then on my way out; the front desk asked me multiple times if all was okay!? I can only assume it’s because of the request of change and her complaining about it. Did she think she deserved more than 20%? Did she even tell the front I tipped her accordingly, especially for her aggressive sales approach throughout my “relaxing” pedi!? She should be grateful she got as much as she did! A tip isn’t mandatory!!! How are you not going to say thank you?!! I said thank you multiple times on the way out, all while being ignored by this specific tech. Finally I loudly exclaimed, “I SAID THANK YOU.” & she had no other choice but to acknowledge me. This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered these negative circumstances at Royal Nails. I honestly don’t think I’ll...
Read moreI decided to go to this salon because I live in Haverhill and thought rather than driving all the way to North Reading as I have been for the past year I will give this place a try. When I got to Royal nails it was very busy but there were probably about 30 different technicians working. I noticed that the lady that was doing my nails did some things differently than what I was used to however I've figured it's a different place they have their own methods it's fine. The first thing that I noticed was that she did not file both hands the same which left one hand with square nails and the other with sharp edges. When I mentioned to her I don't think you filed this one she said oh no no I did go wash your hands. I come back and she quickly informs me that the massage part of the manicure will not be happening because they're so busy but if I come back when it's not as busy she will give me a hand massage. If I just wanted my nails painted I wouldn't have paid for a manicure however I just brushed it off as I already felt uncomfortable. As she continued talking on her cell phone I grew angry and just wanted to get ready to leave. The very next day my nails which were gel began to crack at the tips and chip. Anyone that gets gel nails knows that your nails do not chip from the end they begin to grow out but they don't usually chip which is why people tend to get them. My experience here was absolutely disappointing aside from the screaming walkie-talkies as I felt like I was in a factory of nail care I will never return here and I will continue to go to North Reading to luxor nails as they do not care how busy they are they will spend their time and make sure you get the best massage, whether it's a pedicure or manicure, of your life. I suggest everyone to try the salon out in North Reading and to never step foot in Royal nails, it is terrible and not...
