Athens Pizza — Restaurant in Haverhill

The only reason I am giving them a 4 is my food was delicious and the young lady behind counter was great sweet and made a very uncomfortable situation ok (will explain ) Athens Is lucky to have Becky behind the counter otherwise, I never would go back! I went late sat the 26th after trick or treating with family. When I walked in door 2 staff members I believe the chef and a women in the back were screaming and I mean SCREAMING AT ONE ANOTHER in what i think was has Greek.They had zero consideration that myself and one other Patron were there. One girl behind counter was too busy laughing and flirting with a young man off to side of regiaters to me even notice anme.Then another girl who's name I asked to write this review 'becky came over and apologized about fighting and explained to me that it's mostly family working there she made lite out of the insane fighting. I ended up laughing when she said ya no how family can get on each other's nerves. I understood then also explained it was a very busy stressful night I wus call my brother and yell at him just because if I could, she jokes . She made me laugh and ignore the screaming and took time to tell me they were fam otherwise I would have thought that the chef degrstes his female staff. Then she helped me pick out a wonderful sub. While waiting she said just think of it as a different type of ambiance don't resturaunts have music here u can learn a new language , It was cute. So even though the other staff didn't even acknowledge me it only takes one great employee to change your whole experience. I wud never EVER BE entering Athens again as good as the food is if one employee didn't Take the time to make me feel important and as unprofessional as the fighting was her lighthearted conversation and explanation made it ok somehow. So thank u becky(hope I have her name right it was loud) and Athens Is lucky to have u!! As for other staff , maybe owner should have a discussion with everyone about customer service and behavior!! Yoyr Also lucky you pizza,calzones and subs are the best in hsverhill. To bad most if your staff is horrible.i have come in many times before and always found girls at counter are rude and preoccupied with phone's or flirting .. I saw this in other reviews also. I've always loved athens subs, but today very little down, I called in my simple order like always over the phone, the dude confirms it. Pick it up come home and the sub was just thrown together missing oil not toasted. Yes it sounds small but when you don't make much money and look foward to something simple it should be made to the customers liking. I called to let them know and they said if you wana bring it back..so if I want to waste gas money. No we can deliver one to your house, or didnt even ask for my phone number. ATHENS CLEARLY dosnt care for there customer..go elsewhere Jan 11/2025 After getting a delicious sub delivered to my house the other day nearly perfect in every way, I was looking for my italian sub fix. With it snowing out and errands ran, we were right next to good one Athens. I figured they can't screw it up if we order in person. Little did I know. The first sub brought out was wrong in more ways it was right, after bringing it up to the front and having it inspected like a murder scene, they unhappily decided to fix it. Unfortunately they used what seemed like the same bread( re toast it, still forgot the oil, as well as the pepperoni that was added to it, and my sub was supposed to be lightly toasted, and it looked like thr bread as well as the meat was hit with a mini blow torch..I didn't have the patience to return it. Lesson learned, you will never know what your going to get when you go to Athens..Do better.. P.S why dosnt anybody...

i’ve been getting athens for at least 12 years and i can say they are my favorite. like a lot of places it’s hard to find decent workers but the owner is trying his best with what he has. i always see so many regulars going in.

but at night when it’s super busy i have noticed that it takes a little while to get food delivered but when they are having to drive during rush hour and fighting traffic i can’t blame them.

i saw some reviews really trashing Athens but they aren’t a franchise, so when it comes to mistakes they can’t always solve it by giving customers money back. Also they can’t just fire a worker and have them replaced within the week. every worker is needed.

i’ve also heard plenty of stories over the years by the amount of scams they’ve gotten by customers trying to get free food so i can also see their hesitance with returns, or complaints. mainly when they have their family working the sub station and they can trust that they know how to make the same subs that they’ve been making for 40 years.

also prices just went up! which sucks but i got some insight that it took a lot of thought before the owner raised them. it’s crazy just how expensive the world is and how much it must be for a restaurant.

but this place is honestly so great most of the time. but they are a one restaurant location and they are working hard to keep it up and find hard working people to represent that...
