Do some grocery shopping here. They have meat for really cheap and it is really high quality. My ground beef was amazing and lasted over 5 days in the fridge! I swear, still beautiful, and only 2.99 a pound
Pro tip: ask them for kefta at the meat counter, which is middle eastern meatballs. You pick out of package if the decently priced beautiful stew meat and then they grind it for you right then and there with the spices. Talk to the butcher he can tell you all kinds if "secrets" lol of stuff to prepare there. It's like a magical new world of cuisine to me, to add to my Italian, Chinese, Mexican and American cooking skills.
They also have cheap milk and eggs and cigs too, but the real prize here is all the "exotic" amazing middle eastern food. Ask anyone working there the are all incredibly helpful (I can't state that enough). I was short a dollar one time and they let me go (I'm a regular I didn't even ask but I will give I back next, even though they insisted). It was for the restaraunt, the guy told me it was a dollar less than I had.
Anyways, they will all tell you their favorites dishes and what you need to buy and how to cook it. How frigging cool is that? That's like fancy whole foods level service
And the restaurant is amazing too. I loved the lamb sandwich/wrap. They make a different schawarma than I'm used too I think it uses green curry? It's still good but not like the Turkish one which is my favorite.
Oh. And big points for their support of Palestine. I have Jewish friends in Israel but I disagree with their blatant racism and their violent government.
They closed for 70 minutes to make the 70 anniversary of Palestinians being kicked off their own land (to make Israel, giving Israel all the best land even though an entire nation was already living right there!?)
So I love this place. The people are great, the food is great, they will help you with recipes and maybe best of all they have cheap milk, eggs, meat and cigs. All the basics are cheaper here than anyone else within...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI happened to be driving by there and had never seen this place before so i dropped in. I was not impressed at all. For one, the products were highly disorganized. They were not grouped together at all. For example, rice could be found in 5 different aisles. Luncheon loaf i saw in no less than two. Additionally, upon glance, the so called fresh meats did not look fresh at all. Additionally the meats seemed to be highly priced. (1.99 per pound for a whole fryer). Also, many of the freezer items looked like they had been in there sometime. Everything was all crusted over with ice. This store seems to be catered more toward the middle eastern culture. Most of the foods were written in a non latin rooted language (meaning it did not use abc's) and then some subtitled in english. This would not even be as much as a problem if the products were grouped together better. Maybe this is how they have their stores set up. That is why i still gave it 3 stars. Had this been an "american" grocery store that was set up like this, I would have given it 1 star. On a good note, the employees that i ran into were quite nice and the customers were very friendly as well. I do hope this store improves. Maybe i will check it out in a few months to see if it has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOwned by a family from a small town in Palestine, the āWorldwide International Food Marketā presents traditional middle-eastern fare with a diner- or greasy spoon-style atmosphere. I ordered the gyro sandwich, and my friend Larry ordered kalaya (served with pita bread). Both were delicious. Then we found our way to the grocery and picked up a box of pistachio-flavored Turkish delight. The baklava in the grocery was tempting, but that must wait for another time. They offer a modest assortment of mezze including baba ghanoush, ful (also sometimes spelled foul, a puree of fava beans), and of course the traditional hummus. They also have reasonably priced falafel ($.50 a piece, when you can get them ā unfortunately they were not available at the time we were there). The cook didnāt show up until close to 12:20 on the day we were there, so it may be somewhat hit or miss. Andāa warning for the faint of heartāif you wander too far back in the store you will probably be subjected to the sight of carcasses of assorted animals hanging from hooks in the...
