Let me start by saying that I used to love visiting this market on our visits to Healdsburg. Unfortunately, my last visit this past July will be my LAST VISIT EVER! We visited this market twice during our July trip and spent a good amount of money, as always. As we were checking out, my 12 year old daughter was confronted by an older male manager at the store. He basically accused her of shoplifting. Let me mention that he did not address me or my husband, even though we were standing right there. He spoke directly to her in an accusatory and demeaning manner. He then followed her alone, without parents present, to find the item she misplaced in the store. We of course started following them, since an adult male manager should never be with a minor female EVER! Shocker! It was exactly where she said it was. When I questioned him and asked what was going on, he said “If I was going to do something to her, it would be outside, not here.” This is a terrifying threat by any meaning. We immediately left the store, my 3 daughters in hysterical tears and fear. I contacted the owners to which I received a very mediocre and lukewarm response. I am advising everyone I know to never frequent this business again, especially with your...
Read moreI've been coming here about every day for a year, I speak very highly of this store. Until today when it was too hot to leave my dog in the car, so I decided to bring him in. I went in, grabbed a burrito, kept my dog as close to me as I possibly could, paid, and immediately got out as fast as I could, (even though he actually is a registers service dog, but was not currently working). While in line, my dog got excited with a women who wanted to play with him and he let out ONE single bark. Some rude POS employee then yells "THATS WHY YOU DONT BRING YOUR DOG INTO A STORE!!" ... really...really..? Because he barked once..? I bring him with me to Safeway all the time, and to work everyday, I bring this dog with me EVERYWHERE and there has never been a problem even if he barked, but noo your right. How dare this dog bark once. Have you never encountered a dog before? Chill the hell out. The situation would be different if there was some real problem that happened because of him or if I had even brought him in once before. Do better my guy. To the elder gentleman who did ask me if he was a service dog and reminded me of their policy politely, I thank you for letting me buy my food and...
Read moreBig Johns has everything you're looking for and more. I stop in every time I'm in the area. I love their large salad bar and their hot bar, which changes daily. Some foods I've seen in the hot bar include mash potatoes and gravy, jasmine rice, rosemary chicken, bbq ribs, macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, chicken strips, mixed vegetables, pot roast with carrots, sliced pork roast, mixed sausages with vegetables. They also have taco style bar some days, which I've seen include beans, rice, and savory style meats. I particularly enjoy the soup bar myself. There are a few great soups to choose from, including gluten and dairy free options like turkey sausage and kale. There are also other great soups like clam chowder, broccoli cheese, and chicken noodle. There is a bread station right next to the soups. If you're in the mood for a deli sandwich, they also make some good sandwiches. I've found items I can't find anywhere in my county, so when I'm traveling through, I stop and stock up. The employees are always kind...
