Sidco 4x4 — Local services in Helen Township

Its hard-to-find good custom 4x4 work. They can do the work but are dishonest. Midway through a job they charged my credit card hundreds without me knowing, The bill was a mess with items unreadable and items written in the margins. They worked on additional items without approval. They charged for items that they thought they installed, admitting and refunding only item I could prove. They charged many hundreds of dollars over the estimate and could not show me what they did for it. They indicated the truck runs when I picked it up, but it stopped every 5 miles on the way home and had to be pull started each time it stopped. The truck was held in ransom until they got every dollar they wanted even without it being itemed on the bill, The place was unbelievably dirty, way past what would be normal for even the dirtiest shop. I would have loved to take a pressure washer to the repair bay. If you must do work with them, have them work on only one item at a time, pay the bill, get a copy, and then have them work on the next item, and repeat. Do NOT allow them to charge your card without you signing it- and tell them that. They are very paper deficient, disorganized,...

Chaged almost double and diff howls now.

I was quoted $250 to rebuild a Chevy 12 bolt rear end if I supplied the parts. Diff worked great before, I just wanted to go to 3.73s and a truetrac. I was charged $435 (it was $475 at first because he replaced additional parts that weren't needed but agreed it was his error), not much else I could do so I paid it, I was just glad it was done. The explanation was the "old man quoted it and he shouldn't be doing it anymore and they were sorry for the confusion". Well I get it installed and it howls like crazy! The friend who recommended the shop now tells me he isn't surprised and that the quality is hit or miss now. I really hoped this place was a hidden gem but it wasn't worth the two 2.5 hour round...

Horrible experience! We had a verbal agreement that I would purchase some tires and rims from him, I even offered to put a down payment on them and he refused the down payment and said that I was good to purchase them when I came back to pick them up. Later I had called and wanted to see if I could come get them and he said that he couldn't get to the tires and rims and I called him one more time and he told me he sold them to someone else. He also told me that I was not welcome to purchase any other parts in the future for some reason? I was speechless and feel this is horrible customer service. I would not recommend this...
