We highly recommend this ATA academy for the entire family. We originally started at a different ATA academy which has since closed but not before recommending that we transfer to Family ATA III Martial Arts on Gibson. This school is really about family, community, and empowering individuals with the right mindset/leadership principles. It's our family's opinion that this facility makes a real effort in going beyond what is marketed for it's martial arts curriculum in it's emphasis of teaching solid leadership principles to all ages. Master Plaid, Mr. Pyne, Mr. Drachen and Mrs. Anine Drachen really lead by example regarding what they teach. This school doesn't leave the impression of just being about getting as many kids/families in the door to make money. The instructors here are obviously passionate about teaching Taekwondo, it's philosophies, and self defense to their students.

Our family also trains at other martial arts & grappling training schools due to our lifestyle of traveling so we've accumulated first-hand experiences with different schools. When a school stands out amongst the roster that we utilise, we feel it's worth taking the time to review publicly and share such positive experiences with others in search of a good, well-rounded school.

Since our transfer, we've been with using Family ATA as our primary Martial Arts school for the last 4.5 years. We are very happy having our family be a part of this academy and look forward to continuing on with this academy for as long as we are...

I just want to express how amazing Core Fitness and Martial Arts is! My child joined in June 2024, and coming from the Philippines, we were eager to find something positive for him to join based on the great reviews. It certainly did not disappoint! My child is new not just to the town, but to the country as well, so you can imagine the challenges with adjustment and self-esteem. The pandemic also impacted his focus, but since joining these classes, we’ve seen remarkable improvements in such a short time!

Last month, my child even led the demonstration of a technique, and I couldn’t be prouder!

Now, let’s talk about the school itself. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and kind. They share the same goals as the parents—helping both the kids and us parents improve. The kids who are black belts? Wow! They are so confident, disciplined, and always willing to help others. Even the younger students in other belt levels are always there to lend a hand. It’s inspiring to see how these kids have developed, and I hope my child grows in the same way, building confidence along the journey.

The parent community is equally wonderful! It’s a welcoming and supportive group. Everyone shares the same goals, checks in on each other, and you really feel like part of a family. It’s a fun and positive environment to be part of!

As prior martial arts student I was looking for a studio that provided a certain type of instruction which would allow my kids not only to grow mentally and physically but spiritually. And after meeting the instructors the first class I was home with Core Fitness and Martial Arts. Mrs Drachen along with her son Mr. Dario Drachen, Mr. Pyne, Mr. Johnson and Ms. Peaking are all unique and supportive in there instruction. The head instructors are honest and display a level of integrity unmatched by any others instructors in there field. My daughter has flourished and became and outstanding martial artist winning 4 state titles and 4 world titles inspiring myself back into training and I've enrolled my two other kids into the program. Now as for the school, the other patents are very supportive and understanding of community. They embrace and cheer each other and when you visit this school you'll see why they are aptly named the Wolfpack.
