I currently live here at Montego Bay apartments in Henderson, Nevada. I HATE it here! I’ve been here since March 2023 and they have yet to come fix the things I’ve asked them to fix since day 1. Starting at the front door, the landing (porch) was filthy and unpainted. The kitchen is missing the microwave and the drawer for utensils was damaged and closing improperly but now, after months of forcing it closed, it’s completely broken. The sliding door leading to the balcony is missing the screen door. The knob on the washer is missing and we can only use one setting. The dryer will not dry at all if you turn the timing knob past 40 minutes. Found that out the hard way. By the way, I painted the balcony myself. The hallway bathroom door as well as the second bedroom door had been punched (or something) and instead of installing new doors, they painted over the damage. The master bedroom’s blinds had been chewed, the closet doors have no guide at the bottom so they swing and creek, the toilet tissue holder, that should have been affixed to the side of the sink fell off when I attempted to put a roll on. The sky light needs attention and repainting and the bathtub had chunks out of the porcelain that was only painted over and not patched. The place where the filter for AC lives is screwed shut so who knows when that was last changed. Oh! The top of the cabinets in the kitchen were disgusting and there’s dripping paint stains throughout. Now the ceiling is leaking and peeling. Maintenance came and looked at it (ceiling) after the last heavy rain a couple months ago. They took pictures but never came back. The grounds are nasty and there’s no words for the filth at the doggie park (before and since Gerry). I’ve paid $25 a month for valet trash and NOT ONCE has my trash been collected! I also pay $35 a month for maintenance of the grounds and out of the 8 months I’ve been here, only 2 months have been worthy of payment (again, Gerry). I fell behind on my rent and received assistance. The people at Hopelink sent 4 emails without response from the office YET they (Anna) continually harassed me for payment. 7 day notices. 24 hour notices plastered on my door when Hopelink had the payment but they (Anna) wouldn’t follow-up. HopeLink finally asked me to see what the problem was and why they weren’t responding. The best thing about Montego Bay Apartments in Henderson, Nevada is the countdown to lease fulfillment.

I currently live here at Montego Bay apartments in Henderson, Nevada. I HATE it here! I’ve been here since March 2023 and they have yet to come fix the things I’ve asked them to fix since day 1. It is difficult to choose where to begin. In a week I was already able to view a pattern of unorganized and unprofessional behavior from the office staff.

Our rent was paid and all paperwork was in, our unit number was given to us and we were driving a very far distance to move. On our trip the complex called us and switched our unit number. We had already set up our utilities AND established and receive mail to our already paid for unit—We had to switch our utilities while on the road and had to obtain medical necessity from our doctor in order to have electricity on when we arrived because it was a weekend now.. No apology or explanation for the switch. Just inconvenience to us. After finally getting in we were not told about a “checklist” we had to complete in 24 hours and since we didn’t have internet access in 24 hours we missed that check list but we were told it was too late and now everything wrong with the unit had to be handled in maintenance requests. The place was filthy. We removed 4 small bags full of cat hair. There was cat feces crusted in the inner windowsill leading to the outside part as well. When we addressed it with the office we visited 3 times regarding this. The first time we were told the previous tenant did not have a cat and they didn’t know what we were talking about. I offered to bring a bag full of the hair we removed to them. They said that wasn’t necessary so I offered pictures. I also began by telling them me and my partners severe allergy to cats. They rolled their eyes. My partner and I had to obtain extra allergy and steroid medication until we could clean the place properly- which they never offered as many times as we requested. Three weeks of itching coughing and using my inhaler constantly. Not just that. One of the burners didn’t work, a drawer was broken, the dryer didn’t have a button and couldn’t operate, stains on the carpet, non-working outlets and a few other things. Again we went to the office- and the only thing I got was the impression that there must be something wrong with me. I stated repeatedly that I wanted these things added to our 24 hour checklist and they said “it’s too late”. Now that we are moving out— they go based on the 24 hour checklist. Interesting no?

To top that off we were receiving mail already at the first unit we had been given. Every day to retrieve our mail we had to go brave it at the office. Some staff members wouldn’t let us have the key, some would- everytime we had to explain the story and wait for them to verify before giving us the key— DAILY just to get our mail. Then one day as we were waiting for a debit card to come in the mail- we went to get the key and someone was moved in so we couldn’t any longer. But they “told them about the mail and they will submit it to us”. We immediately called the debit card in as stolen. Good thing. When this tenant did turn all of our mail into the office- ALL OF IT WAS OPENED and the DEBIT CARD WAS MISSING. And naturally the office didn’t blink an eye. Again acting like something was wrong with us. Didn’t even offer to help us put in a police report NOTHING! Did they know opening someone else’s mail is a federal offense and that keeping someone else’s debit card is identity theft??

So two weeks in we had already been harassed by many apartment dwellers for our spare change and cigarettes, as well as our mail opened and our debit card kept. All while the people at the office acted like there was something wrong with us for having reasonable and legal requests and issues. By this time we realized the type of management and type of clientele that was our reality. So we buckled our seatbelts...

And that story is just our FIRST month at this place. Want to hear more? Because it just gets worse.

I can assure you this is not the home you dream of for your children, or yourself. Go elsewhere!

Hello to all potential Renters,

I have been a long time Renter at Montgo Bay apartment complex. I raised my ( single Mom ) daughter here from age 8 she just turned 18 so I decided it was time for a change. I had promptly and fatefully paid my rent on time every month for the past ten years! So I decided to let all potential renters know my particular story here. These are just a few of the horrific experiences I have had during my time here.

There customer service at best is one Star. I would have to wait an hour or more to pay my rent! That’s right they would make me wait to give them money ( and it’s $50.00 a day if it’s not paid on time! )The electric power would be shut down periodically for maintence not due to NV energy, with out notice and the worst part it was in the middle of summer. Maintence requests would go for weeks sometimes due to lack of personnel to answer the repair calls. My water heater cracked and leaked three times ( I lived up stairs ) flooding not only my apartment but, sadly flooding the poor tenant below me! I really felt sorry for these people my hands were tied I could not say or do anything. They charge you about $80.00 a month for water. I really need you to read this closely it’s NOT THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALY USE! It’s an average of the entire apartment complex! So when they fill the pools up or the tenants beside or below you takes extra long showers guess what you get to share the expense........ The roof leaked in my daughters bedroom for years and yes, that request went on for 5 years. They finally fixed it after I threatened them with channel 13!

The Air-conditioner would blow hot air and yes, weeks ( IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER ) for a repair and when it was supposedly repaired a week later it was blowing hot air. And yes more years went by me pleading with them do something ( My little girl was suffering heat stoke in her own house ) please fix it right or replace the unit PLEASE. More years go by New management I thought things would get better and they did finally replaced the A/C unit.

There is so much more to tell, this is just the tip of the iceberg. I do not want to seem vindictive I just think it’s really important for other hard working people to know my particaular situation and experiences at Montego Bay.

Lastly in closing I had taken pride of renter ship in my apartment always kept it spotless and beautiful. So when I was getting ready to leave I thought there would be absolutely no problem with me getting my deposit back. Well that couldn’t be farther from the truth! I gave my 60 day notice and always signed one year leases. The final inspection day came I scrubbed the floors cabinets, touched up and painted ( I bought the paint ) flaws or defects in the walls and spackeld any in perfections. And steamed cleaned the two bedrooms ( The rest was hard wood floors ) The apartment managers showed up on time to inspect the apartment. The carpet guys were just leaving so the place looked spotless and smelled beautiful! They did there walk through. I had the receipt that I paid for the cleaning and the managers even took a picture of the invoice the cleaners had left they smiled completed the inspection and stated the apartment was in ready to rent condition. I thought great could not have went better WRONG!

So two months later I recieved a bill for $300.00 Sooooo, they charged me two more months of water, and I recieved only one mail box key when I signed my lease, They then charged me $50.00 for a key that I had never recieved. I almost fell out of my chair when I got this bill after two months! Then to make things even worse they told me if I didn’t pay it they would damage my credit score UNBELIEVABLE! And they kept my original deposit of $150.00 UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!

In closing please consider this information I have given you. I say to you this is all true and to the best of my kwoledge

Be Catious!!! The tour they take you on is through this amazing model which is standard, however it is NOT what the actual units look like. I asked several times the comparisons and was not told the full truth unfortunately. I really wanted to like this place. They say they have multiple pools as a selling point but only one is really open and maintained. They charge a cleaning fee before and after, you are paying the bills for the office but can barely ever get a hold of any one in the office. Now on to the the actual unit. We have a move in date set and had a deadline set by the apartments to have all the money in. We upheld our end, when we showed up to move in we were asked to wait a couple hours, mind you we had a packed U-haul and I was pregnant at the time in the summer. When we did FINALLY get keys, it was a mess. Red stain in the master bedroom on the floor, the mirrors on the closet were broken by a previous tenant so they just painted over the door, which is fine if they had removed the CLEAR DUCT TAPE they used as "painters tape" however we learned that if they did it would have peeled the painted. They had painted over dirt, hair, grime and just overall filth, not cleaned it. There was something melted onto the inside of the dryer, the microwave door was broken, the oven was broken, the dishwasher had a crazy amount of grime in it. The "hooked up" WiFi was not hooked up and I had to have someone come out, half the outlets didn't work, and the AC had problems. There are cracks in foundation, the weather stripping on the door was messed up, the hinges were loose, and the door was hung crooked. The second bathroom smelled SO strongly of paint we couldn't let our daughter use it for like the first 2 weeks because I had to clean it and air it out. The maintenance team left so much dust and grime in the apartment that we HAD to clean before we could really move anything in. I did put in requests for all of this to be fixed and only some got done. While living there we had issues with water and bugs, complaints and requests getting ignored, and eventually paid to break the lease. We CLEANED the apartment, gave it back BETTER than what they gave us and double checked everything before handing over the last check. We didn't owe anything yet somehow magically upon review by the management team we owed the amount of our FULL deposit + $85??? We tried to go back and look at our portal because August bills were taken out of our bank accounts but we were already kicked out of the portal and I guess the money that left our account is in the ether? Whatever, we wanted OUT. Not even a full two weeks later someone else was moving into that same apartment, so whoever you are, sorry they didn't fix anything, but hope it was cleaner for you! Oh and BE CAREFUL moving in and out!! They have some partnership with a tow company and they WILL show up at 2,3,4,5 AM and tow your U-Haul. So figure out a place/way to park it overnight or just try to avoid it I guess. Some of the staff is nice and it was THE WORST but it definitely is not what they advertise. edit Forgot to mention. Gate was broken majority of the time we lived there, multiple times it was technical malfunction and a few others it was people hitting and breaking the gates off. So gated yes but...
