I was there today, We just moved here from New England but are originally from West Virginia. I thought the owner was okay, he was more interested in my grandfathers military discharge orders from 1805 then the things I was there to get information on. I had found a coin wrapped in the military orders that I had questions on, along with some inherited pottery! However I was highly unimpressed when I realized he had no idea what he was looking at! My family has a rich Military History , my great grandfather, grandfather, father, uncle an husband all fought in wars none of the same! When he looked up at some other guy and said "are these worth anything "I spoke up and said again not for sale and the man shook his head no! Lol He hadn't even seen them number 1, Second they do have a value along with his photos, flight wings and metals in which I have all of! Like I said , they were never for sale! I do have a lot of costume jewelry that dates back to 1800s , I had it with me but choose to leave without showing it! They are marked Sterling & Silver spelled out on the back. Which is a huge indicator that it's 1800s jewelry. However after his comments on the other things I had .. Like pottery he was quick to put it down, Even after telling me it did have a small value . His reasoning because it was not from North Carolina! As a glass collector myself, I was pretty shocked to hear that! My home state is West Virginia , a place to be for glass lovers! However, my wings spread wide to Fire King Jadite and Anchor Hocking from its first year wrapped securely in its original in box. Just because it's not made in your home state don't make it junk.. This world is full of beautiful treasures from everywhere. Gold King maybe but other antiques, I would recommend seeing someone different. And FYI incase you want to come down on me like the lady who left a review before myself,, I can assure you my class of people are not far from where you stand. Infact my class of people have stood on lines and bought you the freedoms to treat others poorly out of arrogance. 1805 , My friend there's nothing in this world today stamped 1805 worth nothing! Your buddy gave you Ill advice on a product that was never up for sale! It simply was where he stored the coin you called trash and I've choose to keep it there. When the young man ask to see them and I agreed it was not to get a value from a guy who specializes in pottery from 1...
Read moreI was pretty disappointed in our visit. After mom told the lady behind the counter why we were there, all she said was "drop it on the floor." She then told us she would have to go get the owner. After she got him, he seemed more interested in showing her what he found in the back instead of listening to her as to why we were there. He barely acknowledged that my mom and I were there. The first thing he said to us was "Did y'all just come from a yard sale?" He didn't say "Hey" or ask how we were doing. When he finally came around the counter, he barely looked at anything we had. He basically said we had junk and said we would have better luck selling it at a yard sale. It just seemed really rude. The only nice thing that happened while we were there was the lady held the door for my mom to leave.
October 8, 2016: I am responding to the comment you made to my review about a month ago. I posted my review above 5 months ago and the response you made a month ago is 100% WRONG! I don't know who you are talking about, but we had no cloth whatsoever when we came to see you. We had heard good things about your business and was looking forward to seeing if you would take any of our items because they were antiques NOT yard sale items. We also came to you based on an ad we saw in the newspaper listing some items that you took. We were not upset that you didn't take anything, but we did not appreciate being treated the way we were. You didn't say "hey," you only asked if we came from a yard sale which we replied "no." Fast forward 4 months to your response and you still accuse us of bringing you yard sale items which we did not do. All I'm saying is you were rude that day and...
Read moreI have dealt with these folks for over a decade and never once have I felt like I have been treated unfairly or taken advantage of. I always walk away feeling good about the deal we made. They are extremely knowledgeable of gold and silver items. High end watches, to antiques. They never rush me always take their time and explain thoroughly whenever I have questions. Fantastic People to deal with!!! I have sold scrap for years and tried other places around and NOBODY BEATS what they pay!!!!
I would also like to add that today 1/9/2025 I thought I would test the waters and see what other buyers would offer me for my silver. For example I went to a gold and silver buyer off of 321 and already had an idea of what the value was for the metal based off the weight and what the price of silver was. I took her 99.9 grams of 925 Silver and she offered me $30 knowing the value was $85. So, I said no maâam I will take that back proceeded to tell her I would take EXACTLY what I had and go see Marty at the Gold asking and I guarantee he wonât offer me $30 for that!! So I drove straight to see Marty and like always the transaction was smooth as silk, he took his time confirming everything was legit 925 Silver, then threw it on his scale, gave me a price. And Just like my gut instinct told me BAM !!! Marty offered me 70 dollars for the exact amount of 925 silver I took to that other lady⌠thatâs MORE THAN TWICE the amount of money I would have received from the other gold and silver buyer. NEVER AGAIN WILL I DEAL WITH ANYONE OUTSIDE OF MARTY!!!!! That alone proved to me HE PAYS TOP DOLLAR!!!! And is extremely knowledgeable and fun to talk with!!!! Thanks...
