we took our first Whale Watch with Seastreak the other day and it was GREAT! everything was on time and according to schedule ... we saw a few humpbacks - they were beautiful (of course!) and a LOT of dolphins! lots! It was a beautiful site with NYC in the backround, then out to sea a little further , looking over at Sandy Hook and the beachline.. Beautiful. I'd give 5 stars, but it did seem a bit "crowded' - I wasn't sure, if during the pandemic they limited #s of people at all - there were a LOT of young kids and adults - who got a bit "roudy" (there is an onboard bar available) ... I think I would have LOVED a smaller crowd. But it's a BIG boat and there was space for everyone, just seemed like there were a lot of people (and yes, it was late summer - things finally opening up, etc...) I can't wait to try one of their fall tours- I never knew about this amazing place in my own "backyard"! if you're whale watching - bring a good lens - a big one! by law you need to be a certain distance from the whales (watch for tours that don't do this - it's ILLEGAL!) - we're in THEIR home, THEIR waters. Seastreak did a great job keep it's distance, but allowing everyone to get a good view from the decks. The naturalist onboard was helpful in giving info and directions about sightings and the types of whales and wildlife in the area. Be sure to get there on time and early too! Staff is very friendly and helpful too!

I went on the Hudson wine tour trip. Unfortunately it was raining as we left Belford, but we had a very good tour guide to keep us engaged. The first winery was very good. Long tables under a large tent, five glasses of wine poured at each place setting, pizza was served and it was plentiful. I thought a strange pairing to a wine tasting, strong flavors, acidic tomatoes, but I’m open minded. Beautiful scenery, rain stopped and it was a good time. The second winery was a little less organized and we had some confusion figuring out the numbered stations. What was the point? No one explained. All in all, it was fun. Great apples for the taking. I’ve been taking Seastreak Fall Tours for about 6 years. It’s relaxing, and usually interesting. Love Cold Spring, Bear Mountain and West Point. Always bring friends and family along. Will definitely be going again! Thanks Seastreak for offering these trips. Thanks for a clean boat (always) and a safe journey.

This was absolutely the best on the water experience I’ve had in New York City and I’m from here. You really don’t realize as a New Yorker how beautiful of a state you live in until you see it from a different perspective. Land or taking off from NYC looks good but there’s something about seeing her from the water that makes her much more breath taking. The level of customer service I received while aboard the SeaStreak ferry was phenomenal, and the food and drinks are reasonably priced. I don’t really see anyone really running up a tab here unless you have a large group with you. The ride to and from bear mountain was a smooth as can be the crew worked swiftly and efficiently to ensure a timely departure and arrival.

The trip was a bit of a disappointment not only because of the rain that started when we were in Cold Spring.

  1. The bathrooms were awash shortly after the trip began and apparently no crew assigned to monitor the conditions and clean up.
  2. When we got to Cold Spring looking for lunch, it took a lot of time to find a nice place for some food in town. Unfortunately it seems reservations needed to be made so we ended up wandering & walking in to places only to be told it would be some time before being seated. We had not been advised of this situation by Seastreak. Thought that some sort of notice should have been given to us in advance so we could have called ahead to one of the places in the town. Luckily we found a really nice little combo barbershop/pub in our wanderings. Great hard cider/beer selection and really nice cheese board while we enjoyed a drink at the bar. Very nice friendly staff too!
  3. On the return, it seemed that no one wanted to run the ventilation in the boat and the windows completely fogged. Some sightseeing.
  4. Also, I emailed twice to Seastreak to let them know these complaints about our experience. Once to their contact address and the second time to their operations VP. No reply at all to either message. The only reason I'm able to write this is that they sent a survey link to my wife's email address and I am taking advantage of that to get these remarks to the survey. I hope this gets some kind of response...
