We purchased a Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerator from Rick's on 6/17/14 and the experience was great. Our 10 year old Kenmore finally gave up the ghost and I explored options locally and around the Cincinnati area to have it repaired. The majority of the various vendors charge a $80-100 fee for the repair visit, anywhere from $30-300 for parts, and high labor costs of $75-150/Hr...this pushed us to replace, rather than repair, our 10 year old Kenmore..
We found a Samsung side-by-side at Best Buy for around $1000 but they don't deliver into Highland County, and trying to pick up the new fridge as well as dispose of the old, was out of the question. I checked Rick's website, which could use some improvement, but found the brands and styles we were interested in. The only issue here was the fact that they do not list their prices from what I could see. I'm sure this is to encourage potential customers to visit their store rather than buy online, and to offer the best prices possible.
I stopped by to check out what was available and the sales person directed me to the various side-by-sides, explained the differences, advised me on quality from brand to brand, and left the rest up to me. The sales experience was great with no pressure, and Rick's prices were comparable if not better in some instances to those of major retailers.
The best part about the experience was that Rick's offers free delivery and installation, as well as removal of the old appliance. They were even able to deliver what we selected the same day by 1pm, and we didn't even purchase it until slightly after 10am! In all honesty, we did get lucky because they had what we wanted in stock but the few hour turnaround time to delivery is still fantastic! The delivery person and installer were only at our home for 40 minutes and had the new refrigerator up and running and cooling off quickly, also hooking up the built in ice maker/water dispenser to our existing water line.
This was our third large purchase from Rick's and we weren't disappointed again. There are limited options here in Highland County for repair as well as to buy new, and I would recommend Rick's to anyone that needs high quality service, fair prices, and honest opinions...I haven't found that...
Read moreMy grandma bought an oven from Rick's about 2 years ago and purchased an extended warranty. Had to have a technician out in under a year to look at it. They came out 4 times total in under year and told my grandma there was nothing wrong (it took 40 minutes to preheat, burnt food on one side of a baking dish, and under cooked the other side of the same dish). Finally replaced 1 part before Thanksgiving. Still not working properly. Ruined Thanksgiving dishes...we had to take dishes to the neighbors to cook. And, ruined pies for Christmas. Manufacturer will not help since she purchased additional warranty through Ricks... terrible service and...
Read moreLast June, we purchased 6 appliances after being told there was no delivery and installation fee. They told us they could delivery the appliances in three days and they gave us small discounts for purchasing multiple appliances. After spending over $5000, and 8 months later they call us and tell us we still owe $264 for a delivery and installation fee. Now they want to take us to small claims court. Our receipts say nothing about a delivery and installation fee and their website advertises free delivery and installation. ...
