I probably should wait to do this review until I'm not so mad. But since I missed my meeting, I have time this morning, so I might as well sit here and do this. On June the 24th, I got up at 2 o'clock in the morning and worked all day, then drove to Hillsboro, Ohio, which is about 2 hours from where I needed to be this morning (the 25th) for a meeting. I was completely exhausted, so I pulled in at this day's inn. There was a lady standing out front when I pulled in. She asked if I was checking in, and I said hopefully and asked if they had rooms. She said yes. She held the door open for me, she was very polite. She put me in 103 after we got my room taken care of. I went back out to get my stuff, and she came back outside, and when I started back in, she held the door for me again. I woke up the next morning, 40 minutes before I was supposed to be at my meeting. My alarm never went off because my phone was dead, because the electricity was off. It was hot in the room, so I was sweaty when I woke up, I did not have time to even take a shower, not to mention that I had no way of fixing my hair for my meeting, if I did take a shower. I did not have time to eat breakfast. When I went to the front desk very upset, knowing I missed my meeting, they pointed at a sign and said it was posted on the door. But the door was open for me both times, not to mention I was exhausted. I probably wouldn't have read it even if the door hadn't been opened for me. I would have never stayed at this location if I had been told I would wake up the next morning hot and sweaty with no way to fix my hair. I called to let the place I was going know that I was going to be an hour and 20 minutes lat, and they told me that they could not reschedule me for later. So now I am sitting here very upset before heading home with no meeting. I truly feel like I should be refunded the money. I would not have stayed here if I had known, and I missed the meeting that I needed the room booked for. On top of this, the towels and wash rags were stained and...
Read moreAfter 12 hours in car. Checked in. Unloaded car. Kicked off shoes to relax. Within an hour noticed bottom of feet were as black as black can be. Grabbed my container of Clorox wipes and went to work on our suite. I was in very surprised as to what all I found when pulled the furniture out. Food, dead spiders, dust bunnies galore. Stripped the bed, sofa bed and got fresh bedding, plus bathroom supplies. As to what I saw, didn’t trust anything in room. Nice clean room now, no thanks to hotel. We did not allow any hotel worker in our room the entire week we there. At this point most people including myself would of checked out and went to another hotel. Closest hotel is 30 plus miles from Hillsboro. Our next day there, while getting in the pool for the first time, the safety hand rail was broke and my grandson fell face first into the water. He is okay, just a few little scrapes and bruises. We reported this to the hotel, at that point the pool now became closed the rest of our stay. Our very next day there, we come back after visiting with family to find a note on out side entrance that water was off for a few hours. Come to find out by talking to water company workers directly. Water would be back on within an hour but we would be under a boil water advisory. The hotel did not notify any guest of this till 24 hours after the fact. We did make the front desk aware of concerns throughout our stay, they did not care. We were not even offered a bottle of water, instead we had to buy our own water the entire stay….there’s no way to boil water in a hotel. We addressed concerns with the owner, he didn’t really care either. He thought he was doing us a favor by giving us one night free. We would of much rather had the experience we use to have prior to this hotel going under new ownership since we stayed there 3 years ago. It used to be clean, caring and friendly. We will drive 30 miles or more from now on when we go out...
Read moreOur insurance company booked us at this hotel. It is run down. There was a hole in the wall from the door handle, and we saw cockroaches in the bathroom. The furniture was dilapidated, and peeling. The walls were scuffed and dirty, and they had not been patched well. We told the lady that appears to be the owner, and she didn't really seem to care. She said their pest control takes care of it.
We asked for our bathroom to be cleaned after almost a week! And, I explained that I had just had major spine surgery. Right after the housekeeper said "oh yeah you can get staph" she said "we only clean after checkout ". This is a hotel NOT an AirBNb! She finally did come in, sprayed some cleaner in the tub and sink and wiped around a bit with a rag she appeared to have been using in the room next door.
We asked if my bed could be made and after some push back and attitude from them, and some help from me (and I was not supposed to bend, pull, lift or twist), the bed was re-made. I asked for an extra shampoo because with a 6" open spine wound, I didn't want to share a soap bar. The housekeeper complained to the lady that appeared to be the owner and said "now she wants an extra bottle of shampoo". These are travel sized amenities.
The bathroom floor and vanity were filthy, the chair (not desk but chair to sit in by the bed) was filthy, the hair dryer was broken and we didn't use it. We didn't want to get shocked. Someone had stuffed toilet paper in the peek hole of the door and we left it alone, not knowing who or why that was done. The towels were stained and a lot of them were frayed with holes.
Vickie at the front desk was very friendly and the breakfast was good for a motel in this class.
It is close to everything in Hillsboro, so we could easily go out and pick up food, go to the doctor or do...
