Just went in to buy root beer for my son. Utilities must be really high because while he WAS looking for a flavor the man behind the counter rudely told him to shut door because the glass was clear. Evidently the over priced chocolate that we just bought could not cover the cost of a cooler door being open for a few minutes. I went back into store to ask if the person working was the owner. He said he was and I told him I wanted to make sure since I left a review on his website. At that point he began being snotty again and said that he politely asked my son to close the door and I got mad and stormed out. Calling over the counter and referring to someone as sweetie is DEMEANING in my point of view. Second of all if someone is shopping in your store it should not matter if they have the cooler open for a minute or two. Maybe if his selection had been better my son would not have been looking through them for the flavor he wanted. The owner went so far as to say if I LET my child do such things we were not welcomed there. As I was leaving he smartly replied to have a good night to which I gave him a "special" wave goodnight. I have told people about this shop but never again. IF YOU READ OTHER REVIEWS I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON TO HAVE THIS INTERACTION WITH THE OWNER OF ALL PEOPLE.
PS I had written a review but felt the need to revise it. I do not care for your apology if it was offered and if telling my son to come on we are leaving makes me a B*ch then I guess I am. A polite way to address someone is to ask if you can help them not reprimand their child. I am an adult and use to not getting my way so I not a brat like you implied. I work daily with the public and go out if my way to be understanding but I will not be...
Read moreGood chocolates. I had been there previously in the last few yrs from Chapel Hill where my husband is town planner. This time I was encountered by the most deplorable rudeness I have ever seen in any establishment in this area. I had asked for a latte and some chocolates and asked if he had cardamom. He did add some but at the register he rudely and angrily remarked "DONT YOU TRY TO COME BACK HERE AND THINK YOU CAN DO THAT" I asked... what did you say? We cant add or substitute..and Im twlling you the owner does not allow it and I can lose my job. I cant believe at 50 I was literally scolded in an establishment for not knowing some rule set by someone who obviously should not be in the service industry or dealing with customers. With as good as this product is it is a shame to employ people with no customer service skills. The two ladies that had walked in before me had to walk out because they were not served. The employee did not greet them even though the shop was empty except for the three of us and he kept on working at the counter with...
Read moreThe chocolates are simply delicious - far and away my favorite chocolates anywhere in the Triangle. They are rich and silky smooth. You'll find interesting flavors and beautiful hand-painted shells on some of the confections. The gelato is rich and creamy and makes for an incredible milkshake!
I have been a customer for many years; since the week Matthew opened the shop. We love introducing people to the delightful and delicious treats. I'm always particularly happy to find Matthew himself serving customers. We've developed a terrific rapport and friendship over the years.
I have always found the staff to be patient with me and anyone with me as we hem and haw over our choices. Sometimes this means returning said patience as others in front of us do the same. It's a wonderful gem in Hillsborough's growing local dining crown. SO worth the trip and...
