The Cornerstone Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Hillsdale

The Cornerstone offers a fantastic atmosphere and an easy to reach location. I ate with friends there last night and from the moment we walked through the door we were greeted by a very pleasant host who greeted us immediately and promptly seated us in the upper area of the restaurant.

Once seated our waitress came right over to the table to take our drink order which was brought to us expediently and accurately. As the table was engaged in conversation the waitress gave us time to look over the menus and decide on our order, in fact she had to stop back more than once as we ordered appetizers before our meal to give us more time to decide, all the while she was pleasant and professional.

Once we started ordering the waitress offered suggestions to those in our party who could not quite make up their mind which sped everything along. We ordered mozzarella sticks and Spinach dip for appetizers which were both very good.

It was Taco Tuesday so I got the tacos which are an excellent value for $9, and I can’t recommend their seafood Bisque enough as it is the best I have had in NJ. It was just creamy enough with some good chunks of seafood and had delightful flavor. My Fiancé ordered their skirt steak which I have to say tasted better than much higher priced cuts of meat I have had elsewhere.

A member of our group showed up late and his food came out exactly how we wanted it and we Were able to pull up another chair without delay. This is definitely the type of establishment I want to come back to as both service and food was excellent and a fairly good value for the money. Additionally there are enough items on the menu that even the pickiest of eaters will find something they like so your entire party will...

We have been to Cornerstone before our disastrous night this Memorial Day Monday evening. We were pleased with our previous meals and service was adequate.. Tonight we arrived at 6:15 and sat for ONE whole HIOUR until we heard from the waitress that our meal was coming shortly. We ordered two drinks that never arrived. I had to go inside to the bartender to ask for our drinks because the waitress was no where to be found. The bartender saw our drinks among at least 15 others sitting on the bar. Our waitress had never gone to pick them up. I carried them back to our table we sat for another half hour. ....no food and ...no one came over to check on us. We heard from the bartender that they were totally understaffed for the evening and could not cover the demand. I promise you that the .restaurant was not full..remember COVID! There were only two outside waitresses to handle the flow. Our waitress was not seen or heard from after our initial order. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes. Nothing big..nothing fancy. .. we arrived at 6:15 and received our food after 8:00. The table next to us had already walked out after 45 minute wait with no order taken. My husband went to speak with the Manager who was both rude and dismissive His answer, “If we were unhappy we could leave. “ i understand restaurants have issues...things happen...but all we saw was no wait staff and no meals leaving the kitchen. If someone had been honest and explained the issues...we could gave made an Informed decision. What a...

Someone at a different restaurant told me that here I could order great wings so I decided to pay them a visit.

First off the bar is a huge horseshoe shaped area, and I promptly grabbed a seat by the beer spigot next to the take out food pick up station.

All of the sudden I started hearing voices which I thought was very weird since I hadn't had any drinks yet.

Luckily it was just Danielle the bartender greeting me from the flip side of the bar. She made me feel very welcome and after ordering my drink she also offered a menu.

Of course I ordered the wings and the Lentil soup with ham which was the Soup Du Jour. Well let me tell you after Amanda the waitress quickly brought it over I devoured it 'cause it was absolutely yummy. Oh! ...and so were the wings!

As I'm feeding my face I noticed an older gentleman by the pickup station next to me waiting for his food which took quite sometime to be ready.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how apologetic the staff was, and they even threw in a pizza pie because he had to wait so long. Wow...good going Cornerstone!

Finally I met one of the managers named Manny, and I felt compelled to "spill the beans" about my experience there. He was very gracious and attentive.

Well needless to say like Gen. MacArthur once said " I came through and I shall return".
