Alexandria Market Daytona — Local services in Holly Hill

Having been long time acquaintances of the former owner (when this was Laziza), I frequented this shop a bit. But after not stopping in for a couple of months, I was surprised to learn it changed hands and names.

However, upon walking into the new Alexandria's market, it was clear that the place received a promising upgrade. The shelves, freezers, and entire space is stocked full and high of all the fantastic Middle Eastern products that have always been challenging to find locally.

They still get the pita and bread delivered weekly from Jacksonville and have even added a plentiful fragrance/cologne section with many Lataffa options, plus many more more sweets, canned and jarred options, and frozen pastries, appetizers, desserts, meat, cheeses and yogurts. Tons of items from Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey. The hours of opening have also improved.

An added bonus is that the owner/manager, Farouk, is so kind and helpful - even suggesting a premade frozen kunafe from Jordan (which I was skeptical about, as someone who enjoys it homemade) with a "trust me, it's delicious"... And it actually was - even to the point where family actually thought it WAS made from scratch! Top notch customer service and great suggestions.

I also learned Alexandria's is actually a small chain of sorts, with three stores including this one, Winter Park, and I believe Orange City, which probably contributes to their ability to carry so much more than Laziza did.

This new store is like Laziza amplified. I highly suggest trying out this local, international market for anyone seeking Middle Eastern or Mediterranean products - especially those which may be hard to find. Great products...
