Mallard's staff was really helpful and kind to me. As someone with experience with firearms only as a youngster with my father and grandfather I am looking to get back into just plinking. I have twice bought firearms from online retailers and had Mallards serve as the receiving gunshop. Both experiences were friendly, informative, and I'm impressed by their selection.
The silly "tacticool" 22 LR I bought online was actually carried by Mallards themselves! I had no idea they had such a selection since this is the kind of plinking "fun gun" that I would have never expected a local gunshop to carry... All 3 guns I've bought online were in store for the same price or close enough that shipping evened it out.
I'll be seeking my CCW permit soon and will check with Mallards before making any online purchases in the future given their selection and competitive prices.... but the real reason I'll buy from them whenever possible is the staff who were welcoming, patient, and knowledgeable!!! Best of all it supports our community busineses and our local families. I admit I felt guilty finding out they carry the gun I was picking up but this is far from the last gun I will buy.
So when I need a 9mm prior to or after getting a CCW permit I will buy it from them. I dont plan on actually carrying a gun when I get my CCW but l I think its good to have any way if you are going to own a pistol. Likely will be making a purchase of a 10/22 when I go back to pick up the 22 pistol I bought online and possibly an SR22 if they have one. I hate the idea of spending $0.50+ a round for .223 or .300 so .22 is basically all im interested in for the time being.
I was early due to a waiting period for pistols. They politely explained how that isn't possible without a CCW due to the 3 day waiting period for pistols (which I admit I didn't realize was a thing in our state- but its a good idea to keep people safe I guess..? But I won't get into politics. If i was in a rush wouldnt buy online lol but hey they dont make the laws! They just follow them. Which is good. So i totally get and respect the situation and in no way is it their fault for my ignorance- but another reason to get a CCW permit!!).
They proceeded to handle the paperwork to make the pickup hassle free when I stop back in. So I left very satisfied with the customer service I received. I'll admit even though I've done some shooting, can safely handle a gun, as newbie to gunshops I was nervous but they put me at ease.
Don't hesitate to come in, the atmosphere is friendly unlike some seedy gunshops where you feel uncomfortable. Mallards is upscale and classy. These guys are great! Thanks...
Read moreI had high hopes for this store. A year and a half ago I put a deposit down on a custom Benelli shotgun. I knew it was bad timing with covid going on and the guns are imported from Italy. The owner informed me it could take 6-9 months to get it in. I wasn’t in a rush and wanted to support a local gun store so I told him that’s fine. After a year of being patient and never hearing from them, I called to see what the status was, no one had an answer and they assured me it would be coming in soon. 3 more months go by so I stopped by to talk to the owner. He said he would contact Benelli and find out what’s going on and call me back and let me know what was going on as soon as he heard back from them. Another month goes by, I called and told them he was supposed to call and let me know what the status was and they still had no answers. But again, assured me it would be coming in soon. A year and a half later I decided this has been more than enough time so I went to the store and asked for my deposit back. He gave me my deposit back with no hassle but then proceeded to tell me that he finally heard back from them and that it would be in by March (another 4 months, almost 2 years later) I said no problem, I’d still like my deposit back. I contacted another Benelli dealer and received my shotgun 2 days later. Bad communication, never called me not even once to give me an update in that year and a half. Their Guns are over priced and the communication sucks. Take your business somewhere else unless they have what you’re looking for in stock at a good price. But shop around first! Never again will I go...
Read moreWent into this store on 1/27/2020 after having a terrible experience at Rural King (as well as dealing with one of the most unprofessional salesperson, and store manager at that location, that I've ever encountered in my life, anywhere). The staff at Mallards demeanor, attitude and professionalism reinforced to me the need to support our locally owned businesses. I purchased everything I intended to buy at RK earlier with all things being less expensive than RK, with the exception of one item (I purchased that from Mallards anyway). I left this business thinking I'd found a new home, at home. After I left the business, I received a call from Chad Damron the Owner, to follow up on a question I had at the store. Now THAT is customer service my friends. I didn't get everyone's name at the store but I believe every single person working at that store that came within eyesight of me spoke to me. I was advised of the stores future plans. People, there are a lot of exciting things happening with this business. You need to get on board with...
