As a local business owner in Honolulu, I was appalled by the unprofessional and dismissive treatment I received at the Best Buy near Honolulu, HI, during a recent visit. I purchased an $80 DJI gimbal online and went to the store to explore other options, hoping to upgrade to a better model. What should have been a straightforward interaction turned into a frustrating and disrespectful experience. Upon picking up my order, I asked the cashier—who was also the manager—to direct me to the gimbal section. He was busy with more customers behind me so he pointed me to the right department, once finding the right section and a employee was was stocking items there , I politely introduced myself and explained that I had limited knowledge about gimbals, seeking guidance to compare models. I even complimented the employee ( Named Zander ) expertise to foster a positive interaction. However, his attitude was immediately dismissive and condescending. He told me it would take “20-30 minutes” for me to understand the products and smugly suggested I should have researched online instead of coming to the store. I persisted politely, asking to see the box of a more expensive model to read its features myself, as he was clearly unwilling to assist. He refused to open the display case and reiterated that I should have looked online. When I asked if another employee could help, he said no and walked away, smugly pointing in the direction of other brands when I asked about them. I was considering upgrading to an Insta360 camera and gimbal, a $750-$800 investment, but the Zander’s attitude only worsened. He grew increasingly short with my questions, acting as though they were a personal affront. Even when I explained I could make my own decision by reading the box, he continued to obstruct my efforts, refusing to let me review the product details. Frustrated, I requested to speak to a manager about my experience. To my surprise, the same cashier was the manager. His half-hearted apology lacked sincerity, and he barely acknowledged my concerns. As someone who owns multiple businesses in Honolulu, I would never allow a customer to be treated with such disregard. This experience demonstrated a complete lack of customer service, professionalism, and integrity. I will not return to this Best Buy location and will share this experience with my community to warn others about the poor service. I strongly recommend shopping elsewhere for electronics, as this store’s management and staff seem uninterested in helping customers, even those ready to make significant purchases. ( May 6th , roughly 3:30pm . 478 alakawa st Honolulu 96817 , Zander was the poorly trained staff , didn’t get a chance to get the...
Read more“Total Tech Support” really gives me peace of mind, and I’ve been helped many times in the past, and customer services of each section is also great at this store!
This time, because my old HP laptop finally started have multiple problems, I decided to switch to the new one.
Chad (Sales Agent) at Computer Section was very attentive & helpful for me to decide & buy a new Microsoft Laptop, LG Monitor, and other accessories. Ryan at Geek Squad helped me and kindly explained the process of set up a new laptop, download information from old laptop to the new one, home Wi-Fi set up etc., and set up the appointment for me. When I went back to drop off old & new laptops, Shawn (Geek Squad) went through all details, took care of everything that I want, and answered all my tedious questions patiently. As every person I encountered in the past (Apple Store Reps & other Geek Squad agents) for about last six months, I asked the same question to him (why my iPhone’s Outlook email will not show all folders like my laptop). He tried many things diligently and found out that I just need to log-on to Outlook with password once for proper setting! When I started to see all folders’ emails, I got really excited! Shawn didn’t give up and tried everything he knows. With his knowledge & patience, he came up with quite simple solutions where everybody else couldn’t! After this, my life became much easier! Also, when I told him that I didn’t receive confirmation email on Geek Squad house visit for Wi-Fi Setting, he found out that didn’t go thought all the way in their system and rescheduled me for the following date. I can really count on him! On laptop pick up date, Thalia explained to me how everything was set up, gave me the print outs of details, re-confirmed about next Geek Squad house visit date & timeline, and even helped me set up Bluetooth keyboard & mouse. Gentlemen at the entrance & exit and casher were all kind & courteous!
I learned a lot from everyone, and really appreciated of all the attention that I received at Best Buy Honolulu that was...
Read moreOctober 30TH/22: Update: just bought a harmony air purifier on Amazon with 3 extra filters. Best buy doesn’t carry extra filters for their air purifiers. Thank you Amazon!! Good bye Best Buy!!
Best Buy doesn’t stand behind their products when they break down, even after only one year, and they do not have “the parts/filters” to get them get them to work again.
When I asked customer service to help me out and understand what was going on with the $800.00 dyson air purification system I had purchased in 2021, along with a samsung fridge and washer/dryer, they simply refused to help. All it would have took was for them would be to exchange the filters for me which I would have bought but the female manager said that “they didn’t do that.”
I wouldn’t ever shop again at Best Buy on Oahu island. I had brought the machine by taking a LYFT because I am wheelchair dependent. The two women that wouldn’t help me were dismissive and impolite.
When I removed the filters from the machine and withheld the remote, the female manager, started to become argumentative. I told her that I wouldn’t leave the machine in tact ( although I didn’t say anything I sensed that they would keep it for themselves and/or ebay it). I didn’t have the strength to wheel it back home using another Lyft.
Best Buy in Oahu is sloppy snd completely and untrustworthy.
Incidentally, I just bought a new air purifier on Amazon, it will be delivered to my home for half the price of what it would have cost at Best Buy and with three extra filters(Best Buy doesn’t carry replacements/filters and you have to order them online by yourself anyhow..no wonder huge box stores continue to fail.
I am too weak/wheel chair bound to have brought back the huge dyson today to my home but ensured to remove the filtration system and take the remote. I refuse to make it easy for them to take...
