Rainbow Nails — Local services in Honolulu

The location is nice enough, but the service is severely lacking. The woman who did my nails was fairly nice, but the old woman who did my mothers was extremely insulting and made the entire experience uncomfortable for us both.

My mother is very polite and apologized in advanced that she hadn't had a pedicure in a while and her feet were gross (they were not gross like AT ALL and the apology was not necessary considering it's their job to make our feet look nicer). Anyway this woman took this as a sign to make fun of my mothers feet TO HER. She asked my mom if she worked on a farm or "somewhere where you do a lot of walking in dirt" and laughed all the while. Then she pointed out physical characteristics of her feet (like freckles) and continued to make fun of them which was humiliating.

She also did not make eye contact or conversation with my mother the entire time aside from the nasty comments. When we went to pay after the uncomfortable experience the woman continued to treat us extremely coldly. My mother took out her card and asked how much it would be all together to which the woman responded by gesturing her hand to the screen passively and immediately snatching the card out of her hand and swiping it. I told my mom not to leave a tip because of the way that woman had acted toward her, but unfortunately my moms a better person than i am. She still gave a $20 tip to which the woman (again) snatched out of her hands expectedly and then proceeded to pretend like we no longer existed.

Moral of the story, the woman who did my nails was very nice and i feel bad having to leave such a bad review, but it's unacceptable that my mom who only wanted to take her newly moved away daughter out to get a pedi was treated so terribly. Today was my first time going to this nail salon as I accompanied my 90 year old Grandma. The salon is very clean and the women there are all very friendly. We went on Monday a little after 10am so the salon was not busy which was nice since we were just walk-ins. This salon has been here since I was a kid and I was not disappointed to give this place a try.

My Grandma is a regular here where most of the workers know and acknowledge her when she comes. My Grandma gets the usual basic manicure and pedicure, nothing fancy. The young lady who serviced my Grandma was very sweet and treated my Grandma well and was pretty fast doing both manicure and pedicure.

I chose to get the pedicure deluxe and was serviced by Kathy. Kathy took her time on me as she is very meticulous. I watched how she made sure each nail was to her liking and triple checked to make sure the color was even coated and nothing was missed. Kathy is very quiet, yet very nice and professional. You can tell she takes her work very seriously and I appreciate the time she took on me. The deluxe pedicure was very good and Kathy was very patient with my ticklish feet. The massage she gives at the end is great and my feet feel revived and helped my circulation as I work 10 hours straight on my feet several days of the week. If you feel the need to spoil yourself, I recommend the deluxe pedicure!

I've gone here 3 times, I decided to give it 3 shots. .. All three times i have been dissapointed. The first time i got a mani/pedi, with gel at that. I paid 85 plus tip. I wanted a dark red almost burgandy color and she brought me a very bright red, said they didnt have dark red and insisted i wear this color. I gave up the argument quickly, i didn't have time to pick out another color after it. I wanted a short coffin tip, i dont know what she gave me.. Some looked oval some square and others how i had asked. I paid, went as far as to give her a tip and left. The next day, 2 of my nails fell off. They didnt break... They didn't chip... They completely fell off! 😑

I gave them 2 more shots and again... Left unsatisfied because i ask them for one color and they always bring me another. Doesnt make sense!!!
