Auto & Marine Upholstery — Local services in Hopewell

I was looking for someone to add padding to a [2019] stock OEM Harley-Davidson motorcycle seat. I checked Auto & Marine Upholstery's web site and I saw pictures of reconditioned & custom-made motorcycle seats. This gave me confidence in taking my seat there.

The proprietor - Raja - is very friendly, personable & honest. He added "marine foam padding" to my seat and told me to return if it wasn't comfortable enough. Unfortunately, the marine foam was a bit too hard and I did indeed return.

Raja removed the cover & the foam. He then added softer foam - all at no additional charge. I was very impressed & happy with the outcome - so much so that I decided I will return to him in a couple of years (once this foam wears out) and I will have him build me a new, custom seat.

My inboard/outboard boat has an engine cover that is upholstered. The wood underneath rotted at the hinges. After I took the old upholstery off, I repaired the rotten corners and then took the cover to Raja at this shop. Raja had me bring my boat to the shop once the fabric was in stock and then installed new hinges for me (no small feat to get them in alignment with each other and also new shock absorbers to make it easy to open and close. Then he upholstered the cover. The job turned out great! One more thing--somehow, in moving the boat, the trailer wheels moved and were not in alignment. Once Raja was made aware of the problem, he took responsibility and worked for a couple of hours to reset the trailer wheels to my satisfaction. Raja is a master craftsman. He pays close attention to the details/color matching and his finished product is extremely impressive. I needed a passenger seat repaired after battery acid spilled and destroyed it. Raja was able to easily remove the entire back seat and did not need to keep my car while he completed the work. He found and matched the leather "perforations" to what was already there, and the stitching literally looks like the original.
