Have you ever booked a hotel room expecting a luxurious and comfortable experience, only to be sorely disappointed upon arrival? Let me shed light on a recent stayover stay that did not live up to its advertised standards. Let's delve into the details of this disappointing experience. The initial appearance of the stayover was indeed beautiful and inviting. However, once inside, the reality was starkly different. The sheets on the bed felt like cardboard, harsh to the touch, and even stripping the moisture from the skin. This unexpected discomfort set the tone for what was to come during the stay. According to the hotel's website, daily cleaning is part of the standard service offered. Unfortunately, this turned out to be far from the truth. In reality, cleaning only took place on Tuesdays, leaving guests to fend for themselves the rest of the week. The laundry rooms were available with three machines broken in one building and 2 machines broke in the other building. The change machine doesn't work in one building, but in ths other building the machine worked with no change in the machine. This lack of upkeep was a major disappointment and added to the overall dissatisfaction with the stay. Upon requesting fresh towels, a staff member informed me that the hotel was not a franchise and, therefore, only had a limited supply of four towel sets. This lack of basic amenities, coupled with the dismissive attitude of the employee, left a sour taste in my mouths. A simple request turned into a frustrating and unwelcoming experience. One of the highlights of any hotel stay is often the complimentary breakfast. In this case, the upscale continental breakfast was anything but upscale. The presentation was lackluster, and the quality of the food left much to be desired. It felt more like a meal suitable for a prison cafeteria rather than a hospitality establishment. The lack of attention to detail and quality in this aspect was disappointing, to say the least. My experience was far from satisfactory. From the deceptive appearance and false advertisement to the limited amenities and poor service, this hotel failed to meet even the most basic standards of hospitality. If this establishment is indeed owned by a married couple, they need to reevaluate their personnel and amend their description to reflect the reality of the stay. For anyone considering booking a room here, my recommendation is to look elsewhere for a more pleasant and...
Read moreI had so many anxieties about bringing my largely pregnant self, my husband, and my two young children to live here for 6 months. I didn't need to worry. ||||The rooms were great. We stayed in two different rooms, and they both were clean and well-kept and had everything we needed.||||The staff was exceptional. They knew my name and cared about us. They responded quickly and professionally whenever there was a problem with the room. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We ended up with Covid, and they helped us make sure we had everything we needed during our isolation, taking care of our mail and other deliveries. I gave birth to my third child during our stay, and they checked on me and made things easier where they could. ||||The location was very convenient--less than 10 minutes from Fort Lee, right off of I295 and 40 minutes from downtown Richmond. Less than 15 minutes away is a nice shopping/dining district in Colonial Heights. We spent every other weekend traveling to the many wonderful historical sites in the area. ||||The only thing that could possibly be negative about this hotel is that it borders a train crossing, and the trains were required to sound their horn when approaching. It was loud. However, in the nearly 6 months we lived there, the trains only came through during a single night. The rest of the time, they came through typically between 1000-1500. ||||I unequivocally recommend...
Read moreThe first room I was placed in had several electrical problems. The lights did not work, exposed wiring, and a full on missing light. I called down and was told maintenance could not get me in till tomorrow, I paid 400 dollars for this room with military discount. As I continued finding more problems they sent maintenance up and she agreed that I should be moved. She was very kind and was very apologetic. I went down and as I was changing rooms the main desk lady had an earbud in and either could not hear me or was ignoring my questions as she didn’t even look up from her computer. I was then given a room on the 1st floor which was nice compared to the 3rd floor. This room was absolutely filthy, bugs and stains on every lamp shade. Grease all over cabinets and dishes were all uncleaned. Absolutely unacceptable and nasty. I also noticed that the elevator certificate of operation is over a year out of date. I only pay attention that because, with my luck I get stuck in elevators very often. So, the only fortunate thing is that I was placed on the 1st floor. The location is a bit odd, very hard to find. It is close to a lot of food and shops though! I am having a hard time finding a positive about this place besides the maintenance lady being so nice. Wish I would’ve gotten a refund and went somewhere else. Didn’t really...
