My journey with chronic pain and migraine happened suddenly two years ago on Christmas Eve. Overnight the left side of my jaw swelled and began producing an incredible amount of burning consistent pain radiating up my head and through my ear which would eventually spread to my whole face. Soon other symptoms of dizziness, blurry vision, and horrible pain in my neck flooded in.

The daily pain was unbearable and after seeing countless physicians of all specialties, no one could provide a clear diagnosis or cause. I was treated with a myriad of prescription drugs and otc painkillers for all the symptoms which would soon result in an intense and consistent migraine preventing me from taking part in the most basic daily activities.

When I found myself on Dr. Gong’s doorstep I was depleted of energy and most of my hope that my life would ever return to what it once was. Like many, I felt I was at the edge of a dark abyss filled with life-long heavy medications and their crippling side effects. For context, I am a 25-year-old former collegiate athlete and had led a very active life until my condition.

What would happen next saved my life. In a matter of weeks and now months my migraine subsided to a rare headache, all other symptoms have reduced to near nonexistence. Dr. Gong was able to understand my condition as a whole whereas western specialists only study one piece. She was then able to treat the source of my problem as opposed to medicating symptomatically. As I write this I still sit in utter disbelief and immense gratitude. Dr. Gong has not only treated my physical ailments, but has counseled me and led me to a deeper understanding of what a large role our mindset plays in our health. Through my treatment I have been able to take what could be filed under “ most horrible experience of my life,” and instead learned and grown and hopefully can help someone with similar ailments to find relief.

This is long overdue for me to ackowledge the wonderful treatment I have gotten from Dr. Ellen Gong. I have been seeing Dr. Ellen for about a year now after fainting and dealing with spleen, stomach, central nervous issues and more. I have progressed so much from contiuously visiting her from 2 times a week to now once a month. I love that she not only treats you based on what you are physically going through but she was first there for me emotionally and has been so supportive of me and always wants to know how I am emotionally doing which I find a lot of Value in, especially with mental health and wellness being very important.
