I started with Edward's tai chi class at the Trotter YMCA in 2017. After moving here to do occupational therapy for a repetitive use work injury, I joined my local Y in the hopes that I could find a way to exercise even though I could barely use my arms. Tai chi was the only class I tried that didn't set off intense pain. In fact, I felt better after each class! So, I kept taking it for 2 years, every week. Because of Edward's class, I can now easily raise my arms over my head and do other day to day movements that were previously impossible. The class also helped heal an old leg injury from a horse riding accident. Every month, I noticed I could do something that I was unable to do before. With my new job, I no longer have my weekdays open for the Y classes, BUT, thankfully Edward has his own studio with night classes and where he also practices acupuncture. My doctor recently demanded that I do something to lower my stress- I knew exactly where to turn- I had to go back to Qi Gong with Edward Wong! I tried other tai chi classes, and while there are many great teachers out there, I've found that my teacher's methods are the most effective in helping the body to heal and my mind to de-stress. During this current crisis, I am missing my class, but I have learned enough over the years to keep up my breathing and stretches at home for now. I look forward to the day I can go back. I highly recommend this place and the teacher/acupuncturist,...
Read moreI heard about Dr. Edward Wong through a friend who is interested in taichi and chigong for health. I've never done martial arts before but I knew I needed to incorporate some form of practice into my lifestyle for health and mindfulness benefits, and popular yoga trends just seem to lack the substance I seek. I am so thankful I discovered Dr. Wong. Coming up on 6 months of participating in chigong with Dr.Wong I am astounded at the revitalization I am experiencing. He teaches you methods and also what to look for to recognize chi flow life force in your body and understand how to correct problems and maximize benefits of your efforts. His acupuncture has amazed me also. Again, never having had acupuncture done personally, my grandmother told me about the benefits she experienced with it. I didn't know what to expect but Dr. Wong thoroughly explains the foundational method and theories of acupuncture and its benefits and truly imparts to you the wonderful power of chigong to heal. He is a master acupuncturist and I felt the healing effects immediately. I'm discovering how to breath again after a decade of smoking, and how breathing properly heals the damage of a lifetime of accumulative injury. Now I love breathing deeply with chigong and that makes me never want to smoke a cigarette again. I've never felt better before this concentrated effort in breathing with Chigong. Deep breathing is truly the...
Read moreMaster Wong is the real deal. He knows what he is talking about. He guides you as he practices the motions with you. I can really feel the difference in my personal life and my health.
I do Taekwondo, an external martial art. Tai Chi, Qigong is a soft internal martial art. I have over 20 years of external martial arts. I am a 3rd Dan (3rd Degree black belt). Since studying Qigong with Master Wong, I can see & feel the difference!
The lessons are affordable and specific to the practitioners' needs. If anyone is looking for a Tai Chi Master, I highly recommend Master Wong. Master Wong has extensive knowledge in both Tai Chi and Qigong. I have practiced both Tai Chi and Qigong with him. They are very much beneficial.
I have even sparred Master Wong and how a Tai Chi master fights isn't what you think. Taekwondo sparring is all physical hitting: such as kicking as hard as you can; verses, Tai Chi is soft close quarters combat. Tai Chi is not to hurt the opponent, rather it is to destabilize the opponent, which is the foundation of push hands as taught by Master Wong.
I have done private lessons with Master Wong. I have done meditation with Master Wong. In Qigong, and when meditating, you use...
