El Ahorro Supermarket #1 — Local services in Houston

This store is always very clean. The floor is spotless and shiny. All of the staff is kind to me. I look forward to coming here. There are always smiling faces. The prices are reasonable. The cashier's are sweet to me. Mr Juan is the manager here. Upon first meeting him, he greeted me with a smile and a great smile and pleasant attitude. Mr Juan was busy. But when I knocked on the office door, he stopped what he was doing to come to see what I wanted. To me, that is great customer service. Mr Juan is a smart young man. He knows how to treat his customers. I appreciate that! Daniela the asst. manager is very kind to me as well. When I first talked to her, she was very happy. She took the time to talk to me. Fraudulently charged a relatives food stamp card, the total that the cashier ASHLY told the customer it was going to be was NOT what was charged to her card. The amount was different as the customer checked right after she stepped out the store because she felt something wasn’t right. She went right back inside to ask and get it straightened out. The cashier the proceeded to RUDELY tell the customer that she has to call back tomorrow to speak with a manager, after the customer told her “why, if you were the one who just charged me that amount??” . Cashier did not give a direct response and instead just tried to belittle the customer. Who knows who else their doing this too, if this is a common practice for them or if some fishy business is going on in this store. Beware ! Double check...

I was at a friend's place and we needed a few grocery items and he directed me to this market. I was so pleasantly surprised at the selection, quality, and cleanliness of the store. It was obvious that they cater to the hispanic folks in the area but I felt welcome and easily found what I was looking for. I also love to cook mexican food and picked up a few extra things that I have a hard time finding to make barbacoa. The prices are a bit higher than Walmart or HEB but that is to be expected from a small supermarket chain. I would recommend El Ahorra to anyone and will be looking to see if there is one closer...
