(posted on my second time here) In short, it is decent, but not stellar or bad. First time was an overall 4 star. Second was barely a 3. I give it 4 on account that maybe it was an error day.
(Detailed) (Ordered Bulgogi cupbap + 4wings + 20oz Coke brand soda I think it was, total was around 15 dollars)
The Korean Fried Chicken is good, crisp (if you order the crispy type), though the sauce(gochu Mayo) was lacking (not enough for any kind of flavor, and didn't have much coverage if any), but they had (watered down) Sriracha Mayo on the side. 5 stars for the chicken cooking style, 3 for flavor.
The Cupbap was far bigger than I expected, though most of it was rice. It came with Bulgogi and a cabbage (red and white) "salad" in the bowl. I myself found that it needed more salt/sauce and the Bulgogi while it had a taste, was not the main part of the dish.
Overall-- the food was decent (as described as the friend that came with me), but it was quite expensive for what we got.
The (counter) service there is a hit or miss in my case.
During my first visit (afternoon 1-3pm) some months ago the service was fine. Server knew the menu and handled everything promptly. Water was iced lemon water was nicely filled, and condiments stocked.
My second visit (evening, 7-9pm) the day before this review was handled poorly to my opinion. While I was discussing with my friend our order, there were two counter employees chatting with each other on their phones, perfectly acceptable while we weren't ready yet, probably. When we were ready to order however the two continued their chatter with us standing awkwardly trying get their attention from 3ft away across the counter. They also interrupted us with their chatter during our order. The two also did not know the menu and insisted that they did not do what we ordered. To which when gestured to the menu (all in English) they accepted it. Water was lukewarm and the single lemon slice in the also lukewarm lemon water container condiments mostly empty (had to give the sauces a couple toots to get an acceptable amount).
The location is nice, clean, and plenty of room for parking and seating. (Be careful. People around here don't know how to drive.)
Two unisex / family bathrooms that were moderately clean.
Screens playing YouTube kpop in the background and music...
Read moreMy first time here and I believe they change their name from Vons fried Chicken to hotsome chicken. This is a very spacious restaurants, capacity can seat a little over 100 people. There's plenty of parking spots nearby the entrance and it's free. They serve are there things aside from fried Chicken. I order the kimchi fried rice along with some fries. The two flavors that I had where sweet chili hot and the Korean junkie. The Korean junkie reminded me of fried chicken inside h Mart.
You have an option of deep frying your chicken wings or oven baking them. The difference is deep frying will require two times of frying as of the baking is 1 time of frying and then finishing off in the oven to take off as much grease. Of course, fried Chicken is made for deep frying so I did that. The batter was nice and crunchy and the flavors were very flavorful. I ordered six wings and a 4 wing plus fries combo. The fries were perfectly cooked and season very well. I ordered the kimchi fried rice, which was sad because it was a bit sour. I've had kimchi fried rice at other places and the flavors did not compare. I would definitely void out that order.
Service was great, you order up front and they give you a buzzer, when your order is ready your buzzer goes off. The cashier helped us decide on the flavors and was able to explain what some of these flavors are in comparison to other Korean fried chicken places. That was extremely helpful. Overall, I come here for the fried chicken again! 6 is probably enough for two people since the...
Read moreI've been eying the opening of this place for awhile. Two of my biggest cravings are fried chicken and Korean food so when you combine the two, you're got a winning combination with me.
They are still in their soft/grand opening stages, so if you're impatient, wait until they work out the kinks, or if you're like me, come now and get to know the owner, staff, etc. It won't be as packed and you can give genuine feedback.
We tried the lunch special with 4 pieces of chicken, fries, and miso soup. On this particular trip our group sampled their traditional over roasted, their oven roasted with von's special sauce hot, and their fried chicken with soy sauce.
Overall, I personally like the fried version better (I'm a fatty), but the oven roasted was delicious if you're into non fried chicken.
For the sauces I loved the Von's special sauce, if you can't handle heat, get the mild, I love spicy so it was perfect for me. Packed a solid kick but not overwhelming.
The space is newly renovated. Very modern feel with lots of TV. I could definitely seeing this place be a spot to watch some sports.
They have a full bar so date night and a time with the guys can be had.
We will be back to continue supporting this new restaurant in...
