Went in for a terrible migraine a little after 9pm on a Saturday. It was the last resort, if urgent care was open I would not have gone here. They kept reiterating “you know this isn’t urgent care right? It’s the ER” as if I had the choice at that time, trust me I looked. Like you think I want to be here at all?? I was in so much pain. Sharp pain behind my eye sockets, couldn’t hold anything down, past bile vomiting foam, dizzy, blurred vision, light and sound hurt, but the doctor said I had a headache. Of course these overbearing ER doctors have no idea of your medical history, and ask 50 questions for good reason, but to me it was clear I had a migraine and I almost wanted to cry sitting there in terrible pain being told I have a headache and getting lectured. I said I was in process of working with my pcp to get on a preventative because she diagnosed me with migraines just the past week. I just needed to contact her if I had another and she’d get me in for further action. He proceeded to call it a headache, said she couldn’t have diagnosed me based off one visit, and said he couldn’t say it was anything but a headache unless I did a CT scan or was diagnosed by a neurologist. He pushed several times for this CT scan, perhaps 5-6 times. I got an IV with fluids, pain meds, and benedryl. I was there way longer than I needed to be bc they had me sitting in a room 20+ min after the IV was done until the doctor came back, he pushed one more time for a CT scan and said he’d get a nurse to disconnect me and he’d discharge me. Another 20+ minutes go by, I had to step out with the IV still in my arm and ask a nurse to please take it out. She said she was waiting on the doctor to discharge me…when he said he already did. Imagine you’re with an IV in your arm tired as hell, IV bag finished for over 20 minutes just listening to the nurses complain about inadequate pay and their grievances with signature care and then general small talk laughing while you’re just sitting there freezing, trying to go home. Almost an extra whole hour being there for no reason, truly. After I told the nurse the doctor already discharged me I was out within a few minutes. Glad everybody else seemed to have a good experience here, that’s why I came, the reviews. Will never come back, I’d rather take my...
Read moreI brought my 13-year-old son in for what appeared to be a spider bite. His arm was severely swollen and bruised. While we were seen quickly, Dr. Alcanter’s bedside manner was the worst I’ve ever encountered.
She took one glance at my son’s arm, said it was cellulitis, and walked off without explanation. When I asked her to return so I could ask questions, she acted visibly annoyed and dismissive.
The most disturbing part? After I consulted with my son’s pediatrician and asked for Bactrim, Dr. Alcanter came back into the room and told us—in front of my child—that she doesn’t prescribe it because she once saw a patient die from it during her residency. Then she added, “If you give it to him, it’s at your own risk.”
My son, already scared, turned to me and asked, “Am I going to die?”
That is the lasting memory we left with from what should have been a place of support and care.
If you’re going to see a physician, especially for your child, I strongly advise you look elsewhere unless this facility seriously reevaluates how they treat their patients—with basic human decency and compassion.
4 days later - Update
I’m updating my review after a terrible experience at HCA Montrose ER, specifically with Dr. Alcanter and a second male nurse, both of whom were rude, dismissive, and visibly annoyed any time I asked questions or advocated for my son.
I don’t typically leave negative reviews — but when it comes to my child’s health, I won’t stay silent.
I chose the ER because I expected immediate, thorough care — with all the tools, imaging, and urgency needed to treat a rapidly worsening infection. Instead, I was brushed off, denied an ultrasound, and sent home with antibiotics that did absolutely nothing — and no real care plan.
Within 48 hours, his condition worsened. The infection spread and he developed a high fever.
I trusted my instincts and went for a second look — thankfully at Texas Children’s Pediatrics. They immediately took him seriously, ordered the ultrasound, changed his antibiotics, and finally got the infection under control.
Update (4 days later): He’s finally improving — fever gone, swelling down, and on the mend.
I went to the ER for answers and support....
Read moreI had a wonderful experience with signature urgent care this evening. It was around 6 pm and during dinner my 4 year old son kept saying “my ear hurts” we gave him some Childrens Motrin for the pain but didn’t help.
Our regular pediatrician doesn’t work on weekends and so we were looking for a pediatric urgent care. Called 2 different ones and both said the wait time was over 3 hours and by the time they would be able to see my son they would be closing up. So basically they refused to see him.
My son isn’t a complainer so when he says his ear hurts it must be really bad and so my wife and I were scrambling on what to do and decided maybe we should take him to a regular urgent care.
We called signature care on montrose and asked if they can see children the receptionist was great she said not only can they take children but they have multiple staff members that have experience with children. Then I asked how long the wait was she said there will be absolutely no wait.
As soon as we walked in she greeted us with a friendly voice and remembered that I was the one who called, as soon as we sat down our nurse opened the door and brought us in(didn’t even get a chance to finish the forms). Incredible wait time!
She made my son feel calm and relaxed as she made small talk and got to know him he was really happy with the whole experience even while he was in pain. He even mentioned he scraped his knee and she was kind enough to put a bandaid on him.
After some basic check ups the doctor came in, Dr. Wang who was wonderful. His bedside manner for a 4 year old was better then my sons regular pediatrician.
He diagnosed the problem right away and they sent the prescription to my pharmacy.
When we were leaving the nurse gave my son a Gatorade and when I went back to the front to fill out the rest of the paper work(hadn’t had a chance since they saw us so fast) gave my son a lovely teddy bear!
We were home medicine in hand and my son was in bed by 8:30.
This whole experience was great and I would absolutely recommend the team at Signature Urgent Care for all medical...
