I wasn't suppose to go here. Late night grocery shopping and decided I didn't want to cook when I got home, so googled late night pizza in the Montrose area, hoping to get a slice or two. Despite wonky reviews, I found a pizzeria two blks away, next to a cajun restaurant right at Westheimer & Montrose. But, looking at what the pizzeria offered, I took a hard pass & walked over to the cajun place next door, but it was too expensive for a quick bite. Then, I saw the Burger Joint from across the street,  googled that it was passable and thought screw it. Luckily, I didn't have to move my car, because I noticed they had a real small parking lot-never a good sign. Once across the street that was confirmed. My first impression was they were about to close, but once inside I realized they were humming with a rush. I accessed that I was getting a burger, question was which one.  First issue, the counter to order was just 7' from the door, no problem if you dont have a long line. Guess what?  We had a line, but not long. The problem was the two registers to take orders was down to one since the young lady working one was slow and the bearded guy shut his down to take to-go for an extended period of time. Second problem, the kitchen door was right in front of the counter, so I almost bought it when a worker almost ran into me with a dolly of food boxes. Ordered my food and proceeded to check out the place. It was a inside out concept that put the cash register and a small bar inside and then had two doors out, and the rest of the east wall was gone and lead out to a large covered patio with numerous nice flatscreens playing the Red Soxs - Dodger World Series. The patio had numerous old school wooden picnic benchs on a concrete foundation w heat lamps. The waitstaff was constant buzzing by cleaning tables and patrolling the patio. Suprisingly, one of them ran me down as I was walking around to startled me with my food. The wait was a bit over normal because they looked liked they were slammed (it was a nice Saturday night). The place was bright, colorful and buzzing with trendy people. So, about the burger, it was quality meat, seasoned well (a lot of pepper) and a little dry.  The fries were average,  but plentiful in the order. Definitely, not fast food quality, but definitely not highend restaurant quality. But, strangely everything was wrapped in an old school style soda shop burger style white paper. While not bad, it wasn't memorable for the price. Say, if you were on a date, it's average price, but just being one person, it felt pricey. So, the bottom line it was nice and I might even go back with a date, but to go solo, iffy. I was more a fan of the sports watching than the food. Lastly, when I went to the men's room, I realized I was inside a converted shipping container and realized that this was a design element. So, the Burger Joint is fair. My only memories were the great flatscreens and all the red walls-they really like red.

Just getting into Houston for a month’s stay, we were craving a good old-fashioned burger—and that’s exactly what we found at The Burger Joint on Montrose. This place is truly a hidden gem. Parking is definitely sparse, but once we found a spot and walked in, we immediately felt the vibe: casual, like an outdoor BBQ at home. It wasn’t loud, but had a nice, chatty energy. The ordering process was simple—look over the menu, order at the counter, grab your drinks, and sit. The woman who took our order was warm and welcoming, which set the tone right away. The dining area was clean, the tables spotless, and the place had a steady hum of activity. Large TVs line the walls, and since it was Sunday, football was on everywhere—though the one near us had the Sonic Slide Games, which was a fun change of pace. Our food came out quickly, hot and fresh. My wife had the Classic Burger with cheese and onion rings. The Angus beef patty was juicy and flavorful, topped with crisp, fresh veggies. The onion rings were outstanding—hot, crunchy, and perfect with their spicy ketchup (which was a winner all on its own). My son ordered the Fire Burger, loaded with serrano and jalapeño peppers, pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, and their signature Fire Sauce. He loved it. His queso fries were equally impressive—cheesy, hot, and the perfect pairing for a spicy burger. I went with the Nashville Hot Chicken Sando, and it hit the mark. A big chicken breast with just the right amount of heat, paired with slaw and pickles for balance. The hand-cut fries that came with it were excellent—crispy, crunchy, and I really appreciated the variety in fry sizes, which made them extra fun to eat. We also noticed their cups advertised Taco Bar and Pizza Bar, which tells us this group knows how to do comfort food right. All in all, the food was fantastic, the atmosphere was casual and welcoming, and the prices felt like a great value. This will definitely be one of our go-to spots while we’re in Houston.

ETA came back 4 days later Friday night because we were craving a burger again. The line wasn't too long and moved quickly. We ordered the same thing and got our fries for free because they sent us a coupon via email. You could tell they were quite busy though (most likely due to online orders)...an employee was walking around apologizing for the wait and gave patrons a free milkshake coupon. After we ate we decided to go try the Vietnamese coffee milk shake. We are not big on milkshakes and this had a good flavor. Just a bit too sweet for us as expected. Glad we were able to try it on the house. Customer service and burgers are excellent! ******************* Came here Monday night...the night of Hurricane Beryl and boy was it busy. There weren't many places that were open in the area so we really appreciated them being open and working hard to turn over orders. Although the line was long (out and around the parking lot) it moved quickly. The total wait time to get our food was 35 minutes. Hubby and I each got the impossible burger with onion rings and fries. The burger was cooked to perfection, the veggies were fresh and crispy and the bun was nice and soft. The burger itself was huge! Onion rings were crispy and not too greasy. The fries were a bit too salty for our liking. Almost every table had milkshakes....had us thinking we should have ordered one too but there was definitely no room for that. We didn't finish all of our food because there was too much. Maybe next time we'll order one burger so we can try the milkshake :) There's a parking lot and I think it's also shared with the neighboring restaurant. There's also street parking in the area. Service was good and attentive.

I ordered through their website and I had forgotten about a year ago I had the same issue and I went to pay on the website and it said there was an arrow with my order so I did take my money. So I went inside to show them the receipt and what was going on and I remembered that it happened about a year and a half ago, let me repeat this a year and a half ago and they basically the manager there was a real you know what and told me basically that the payment will fall back on and 3 to 5 business days. I asked him if it's something that happened so often because again it happened a year and a half ago and he said yes it is a problem and that it was just my problem basically. He wouldn't caught me anything he wouldn't help me he just basically said tough luck treated me like I was white trash. I mentioned to him that was all the money I made today because I do doordash and again that it happened a year and a half ago and he would think that he would have his website fixed because it's their actual main website, and he just said basically again shrugged his shoulders and said tough shit basicallyI can't believe it it's such a well-known restaurant and you would think that they would do something about it and basically said wait three to five business days not our problem and sorry that's all the money you had. And they sent me out the door. Dealing with Managers generally they try to make the customer happy but let me just stress that he was a real asshole and treated me like I was under him, white trash and that I was trying to get something for free. I had the receipt the proof of payment that I took it out and there's nothing he would do for me. Don't order on their website it'll be a big mistake it's happened two times my fault for not remembering but that manager needs to be reprimanded or needs to find some kind of job he likes because obviously customer service isn't his strong point. I rarely give reviews at all and I eat out a lot and so this is making a statement that man does not need to be a customer service and representing a well-known...
