I saw this rink would be opening for the start of the season on November 10th, which was the weekend I would be visiting from out of town. The website made it clear that tickets must be purchased in advance, so I purchased two. You have to reserve a time, and must arrive within 20 minutes of your start time.
Once it got closer to the date, I saw the weather wasn’t looking favorable. High chances of rain and strong winds were predicted. For an opening day, it wouldn’t be a good start. According to the site, if there is a cancellation due to weather, they will email me to notify me and provide a refund. I hadn’t received a cancellation yet, and it was the day before I was set to go. There’s no phone number, so I emailed the general inbox listed on the website. I asked if they would be cancelling due to weather. I figured if they were going to cancel, they would know by the day before, as I’m sure they also have employees that need some notice that they are not scheduled to work. The person who replied said that they would be open. I was skeptical but since I already paid, I figured I should at least check it out.
The rain that was predicted ended up not coming, and although it was chilly and windy, it wasn’t unreasonable to expect they would be open. Ice skating is cold anyway, so we dressed accordingly. When I got there, promptly at the start time, the place was deserted. There was a tarp over the ice, and it was clear there were no plans to open it. I was positive I was in the right place at the right time and day, and I had even gotten an email from the rink reminding me of my reservation earlier that day.
I was pretty upset considering I had specifically asked the company if they would be open, so I wasted my time coming out here. I don’t live in Houston, so it’s not like I can just swing by anytime. I emailed them two more times asking for a refund, and I did finally get it.
Bottom line: don’t buy tickets very far in advance, since you will not be alerted to weather cancellations. I have no idea if the ice is even good, so proceed...
Read moreThis is a pretty sad looking ice rink, it's small beyond wonder and has almost no support staff. The ice was rough and choppy, puddles everywhere, some parts have big gouges making it unsafe. There doesn't seem to be a schedule for any maintenance, just just let people onto the ice with disregard for capacity.
At some point, there was a long line wrapped around inside the rink with people holding onto the rails. This is not a safe place to take your children, pushing and crowding will lead to a child getting injured.
The skate rental place smells like feet from 20 foot away, it doesn't seem like they sanitize anything. I...

It's funny, they open all day long but the told us that we should come earlier to not have this amount of water. You guys have gotten to ruin our afternoon!! Next time please advise about this on the website. This...
