I cannot thank TGA enough for all their help with my German cars.
I own a Porsche and two German made Smart Cars and TGA has helped keep my vehicles running smoothly throughout the years.
I became aware of TGA years ago from one of their previous employees who moved on to work for a Porsche dealership.
My Porsche had major rattling issues coming from the Transmission Housing so I had my Porsche towed to the Porsche dealer. After the dealership's review of my car, they said nothing was wrong with my car and it was ready for pick up.
I was in doubt with the Porsche dealership's response to my car as I asked them if they had looked at my car at all or even driven it as there was major rattling noise coming from the Transmission Gear Box. The Porsche dealership's response was "there is nothing wrong with the car."
I insisted they take another closer look at my car as I knew there was no way on Earth this Porsche dealership had really looked at my car and not noticed all the loud rattling noise.
Ten minutes later I get a call from the Porsche dealership informing me that they took a second look at my Porsche and the problem with my car was the Transmission Clutch and someone had installed the wrong type of Clutch on my car causing all the noise.
I had major reservations with this Porsche dealership as ten minutes before they claimed nothing was wrong with the car and now they are claiming "the wrong Clutch was installed" and they gave me a estimate of over five thousand dollars to install a new Clutch with no warranty.
I do know a little about cars and I personally do not know of any mechanical tech that can look or drive a car and know exactly what kind of Clutch a vehicle has. Moreover, I had previously driven my Porsche several thousand miles with no Clutch issues so their claim of "the wrong Clutch was installed" was invalid.
The only way to find out what type of Clutch any vehicle has is to remove the Transmission and open up the access bay and do a visual inspection of the Clutch to determine what type a Clutch is on a vehicle.
I certainly do not want to be in conflict with anybody including a business but I found myself in major conflict with this Porsche dealership over the information they were giving me on my car.
Smelling a Lawsuit coming if I had let this Porsche dealership touch my car, I refused to allow them to touch my car any further.
As I was speaking with the service manager at this Porsche dealership about the information they were giving me was wrong; I was approached by one of the Porsche dealership's employees who I had meet before.
I had good conversations with this employee beforehand and he gave me a Business Card of Texas German Autohaus and advised me that TGA can take care of all my German car needs.
This Porsche employee went on to say that he used to work for TGA and they treated him well and that their customer service is exceptionally well going above and beyond the call of duty. He went on to say that the dealerships don't always get things right.
It speaks in volumes when an employee of any business recommends you to their competitors. TGA has professional standards and exceptional customer service as they have demonstrated throughout the years.
Moreover, these people are like family. Mr. Hans Richter was the previous owner of TGA and he left TGA it in good hands with the new owner Micheal who is a Master Technician/Mechanic and has a Strong Mechanical Engineering background and he was the Tech who ultimately fixed my Porsche before he took over TGA as the new owner.
On a final note, It was the Clutch that needed replacement on my Porsche. TGA, removed my Clutch, inspected it and gave a proper diagnosis of replacing it, and noted that the damaged Clutch was the right one in my car and "not the wrong type of Clutch or nothing is wrong with your car as the Porsche dealership claimed." TGA replaced the rear main seal and inspected the Transmission gears and found nothing wrong with them. All this for a reasonable price.

Read moreI wasn't initially going to write a review, but I keep getting text/email solicitations from them, asking for feedback on my visit, so here I am.
First thing I will note is that their attitude toward you is very hot/cold. I feel like every time I reached out to them, their demeanor was determined by a flip of a coin. Sometimes they'd have a passive aggressive attitude, sometimes they'd be nice, sometimes they'd be short (eager to get off the phone, or end the conversation), and sometimes they'd be jolly and conversational. This isn't any single individual, I generally had the same experience with everyone I dealt with. If you always have a great interaction with them, then I'm happy for you. They might just be stoked that you opened your wallet extra wide for them. ;)
Service experience: My transmission was leaking on my car and I reached out to them to get a quote on doing a flush and replacing pans/gaskets/etc. As others stated, they won't do quotes over the phone, even for standard services, which is fine, even if you can call nine other shops and get a quote via the phone/email. They convinced me to bring the car in to do an "inspection" for $180 and give me an estimate on requested work. When I dropped the car off, I mentioned there were some lights on the dash that I was aware of and planned on addressing, but my main concern was getting a quote on the transmission service. To me, it was just a bonus to get the rest of the car checked out. When I picked up the car, "the guy" (don't remember names) walked me through the report they made with estimates. As some others have stated, it seems like their mantra is to just replace every single part on your vehicle until it's brand new, some of which do not even need replacing. The report said I needed to replace the engine mounts because they were "collapsed," but I told him that they had already been replaced within the last six months while doing other maintenance. He showed me a picture they took of the engine mounts and they literally looked brand new. As I write this, I have their picture up on one screen and a Google image of a brand new mount on my other screen and they're identical (not "collapsed"). He was very adamant that engine mounts could need replacing that often "in some cases." I've had a lot of vehicles in my life, about half of them performance vehicles, and never did I need to change out engine mounts every six months. There was no quote for doing the transmission service I mentioned, which was the main reason for me coming to see them, so I was disappointed to pay $180 for the inspection considering this. When I asked about it not being in the quote, "the guy" said "we need to address these other issues first before we move on to that." Like, huh? I've never heard of a shop unwilling to address a leaking transmission.
As others have stated, I also didn't get a good "vibe" from them; the prices for parts/labor listed in their inspection report are way higher than any other shop I've been to. They quoted over $1000 (parts + labor) to change three wheel speed sensors; I bought OEM parts for
Read moreTheir guess repairs cost me unnecessary $ with no apology and issue was still not fixed. Several YouTube videos later i was able to fix the issue for less than a penny.
I had an issue when my BMW 7 series turned off when coming to a stop and then it would not start back up until a few hours later (found out later this is a common issue.) I took it right away to this shop and was willingly to pay for their premium services. Several thousand $ later they did their recommended transmission services and they bascially replaced parts not related to the issue because there were other issues with the abs, dynamic drive, radio system, and speed sensors I knew of and again they were not related to the no start issue. A week later i took time off to go pickup the car they said was fixed, but it wouldn't even start, so i left it for them to look at it again. Another week later I called them and I decided to pick up my car and luckily it did start. Two days later there was the same no start issue and after searching youtube the issue was a bad solder joint on a control board that will show symptoms of failed parts like the crankcase position sensor they replaced. It's been several weeks later and there has been no issue. It only took me 20 mins and no extra $ or any parts, it was easy access to the board. This shop is good for replacing parts and doing oil changes, but for troublehooting I believe they are over their heads involving themselves with too many...
